Dinah Victoria Ashley

DINAH’S JOURNEY Dinah Victoria Seals Ashley went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at the age of sixty-seven (67). Dinah was born on April 22, 1955 in Chestertown, Maryland. She was the third child of six to be born to the late Percy (Bill) William Seals and Gladys Amanda Tecora Gibbs Seals. She was also the first girl, to be born into the family of three boys and three girls all whom were raised in Barclay, Maryland. She graduated from Queen Anne’s County High School in Centreville, Maryland and was a proud member of the Class of 1973. She played high school basketball, received a blue ribbon award for hop skip and jump and played third base for the Barclay Hornets softball team. Shortly after high school, Dinah became a keypunch operator for DuPont and later worked as an Accounts Payable Clerk for Lehman Brothers Holdings, Inc. On November 2, 1974, Dinah married her high school sweetheart, the late Gregory E. Turner. Dinah gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was a devoted Charter member of Community Baptist Church where she served as a choir member and usher. Dinah was a caring person and would give the shirt off her back; “if she had it, you had it.” Dinah also served as a caregiver for both parents in their elderly years. Some of her favorite pastimes were dancing, fashion, bowling and shopping. Her favorite TV shows were Love Boat, Dynasty and Stories. Dinah loved drinking her Pepsi, socializing with friends and spending time with family. She especially enjoyed caring for her children, grand and great-grandchildren included. She received joy in telling everyone the number of grand and great-grandchildren she had. She leaves to cherish loving memories: one daughter, Tyshia L. Ashley and one son, Vernon M. Ashley (the son of her late husband, Clarence V. Ashley). She had nine Grandchildren, Terry, Jr. (Ebony), Lamonta, Sr., Vernisha, Tierra (Marcus), Vernon, Jr., Dajour, Starr, Vejon, and Veonte; eight Great Grandchildren, DaiQuan, Jr., DaiShaun, Lamonta, Jr., Sariya, Marion, Amare, Dizah and Ma’Riya; three brothers, William Vaughn Seals (Wanda), John Garfield Seals (Carolyn) and Jervis Wayne Seals (Linda); two sisters, Vanette Tecora Seals and Senta Lorray Warren; thirteen nieces and nephews, Kadina, Cassandra (William), Dekia, Shawkita (Glenn), Sharina (Stacy), John (Krisann), Tamika (Tyray), Lakira, Devin, Dimere, Chrishyra, Cassius and Kytrae; three aunts, Joyce Seals, Evalena Burke and Virginia Johnson; one uncle, Oscar Seals; super cousins (Bobby and Lil’s children); big sister, Ursula; close friends, Beverly, Desiree, Cheyenne, Valerie and Lisa and a host of great nieces, great nephews and cousins and numerous friends.
