Diane Marie Showell (Upshur)

Diane Marie Upshur Showell, was born Wednesday, August 28,1957, to the late Josephine Upshur and Roland Walker. Diane passed away at home, with family and friends by her side, in Frankford, Delaware, on Monday, July 13, 2020. Diane received her education in the Cape Henlopen School District. She worked as a Administrative Assistant to Live Production, at Mountaire in Millsboro, Delaware, for 20 years. She loved watching western movies and wrestling, as well as cooking. She also loved spending time with family, especially with her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which were her pride and joy, and her sisters, particularly Karen, who never left her side, but made her laugh and smile. Diane had a sternness with her smile that kept everyone straight. She was encouraging and eager to teach. Diane attended Wesley Chapel in Clarksville, Delaware, where she was a member of the choir. Diane was a Worthy Matron, and one of the founders of Sister Naomi Order of the Eastern Star of Milton, Delaware. Diane married Darnell Showell, of Frankford, Delaware, on April 22, 2000, and they enjoyed a loving marriage for 20 years. In addition to her loving husband, Diane is survived by one daughter, Cherrena Waples of Milton, DE; one stepson, Dartez Major of Dover, DE; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Gussie "Rose" Upshur of Milton, DE, Karen Upshur of Seaford, DE, Mable Mason (Preston) of Birdnest, VA, Maggie Walker of Birdnest, VA, Lori Smith (James) of Painter, VA, Geraldine Johnson (Donald) of Nassawadox, VA and Catherine Walker of Hare Valley, VA; eight brothers, Isaac Upshur (Valorie), Michael Upshur (Inez), Terry Upshur (Wileen) of Milton, DE, Roland Walker (Hattie) of Melfa, VA, Albert Walker (Irene) Nassawadox, VA, Roy Lee Walker, Hampton, VA, George Walker (Leslie) of Hare Valley, VA and Kenneth Walker (Diane) of Craddockville, VA; eight sisters-in law; three brothers-in law; two aunts, Magdalene Cox of Milton, DE and Shirley Paynter of Rehoboth Beach, DE; special friends, Angie Thompson, Wendy Baker, Pam Hitchens, Janet Bowden, Lisa Maker, Richard O'Bier and Chad Carpenter; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by a brother; Curtis Walker, Sr., and two sisters, Susie D. Walker and Shirley Walker.
