Diane King-Singletary

On Monday, August 25, 1958, God blessed the late Luther King and Daisy King with a daughter, Diane. She was born in Washington County, North Carolina. She departed this life on Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Milford Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family and friends. She attended Lakewood High School in Lakewood, New Jersey. After working as a nursing assistant in Manchester, New Jersey, she decided to spread her wings and settled in Delaware, thirty-four years ago. Diane married Avery “Jackie” Singletary and she and her children welcomed him to the family. She worked for Proctor and Gamble briefly, in Dover, Delaware and was a housewife and mother, by far. She loved to cook and feed her family, spend time with her grandchildren and excelled in being the “life-of-the-party” with Uncle Bud. She enjoyed family outings with not only her family, but the Singletary’s, as well. Diane even included her special nephew, Randolph Singletary, having to make a spot for him, wherever they went. Even though she lived in Delaware, she always traveled “home” to be with her family, as well. Diane gave her life to Christ and we give God the glory!! Diane is preceded in death by her father, Luther King; and one brother, John Luther King, Jr. Leaving to cherish Diane’s memories are her husband, Avery Singletary of Cheswold, Delaware; two sons, Jermaine and Calvin King of Milford, Delaware; her mother, Daisy King of Lakewood, New Jersey; five brothers; Nate King of Brooklyn, New York; Brian King of Lakewood, New Jersey; Joe (Cynthia) King of Staton Island, New York; Anthony King of Toms River, New Jersey; Bobby (Natalie) King of Jackson, New Jersey and one sister, Gloria L. King-Mills of Lakewood, New Jersey. She loved her six sisters-in-law, Jewelra, Diane, Gloria, Twistann, Willie Ann, and Nelfine, and four brothers-in-law; Jerry, Joseph, Nelson and Jessie. Diane is the grandmother of thirteen grandchildren, and leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to mourn her loss; an adopted daughter, Tay Lee Rybacki; a special niece, Sharmaine Lambert, and devoted friends, Aunt Mamie Godwin, Beverly Greene and Tiffany Tunnell will miss her, greatly.
