De’mar’s Life Story Early one Monday morning on June 24, 1985, De’mar Antonio Milbourne made a grand entrance into the world. He was born to his mother, Karen Milbourne Haggins and his father, Antonio Cottman as well as his maternal grandparents, Robert Lee Milbourne (deceased) and Delores Milbourne and paternal grandparents, Buck and Roseanne Cottman (both deceased). De’mar, also known as “Mar,” was determined from that day to do things his way and he let everyone know it. De’mar loved his favorite teams, the Los Angeles Rams and the Miami Heat. He was a talented athlete, playing football and basketball for Somerset County public schools and Pop Warner. He loved to dance and laugh and keep everyone laughing; he never met a stranger. De’mar loved and considered his Aunt Sharon Washington (Al) to be his other mother. He loved his Aunt Kanesha Beckett (Tom), Aunt Lisa Milbourne, Uncle Derek Jones, whom he fussed and made up with 100 million times, Uncle Andrew Pittman and his Uncle Kendall. De’Mar loved his siblings--Deona Milbourne, whom he wouldn’t let anybody bother or say anything to. Next came his little sister, Perissha Cottman. Cory, Sr. stepped in and became a father to De’mar and Deona and then eventually came the love of De’mar’s life, his little brother, Lil Cory. However, one brother had always been there for De’mar, Sam Abdullah, and how De’mar loved him some Sam. De’mar vowed that he would take care of his little cousin, Shamar Dodson, forever and made sure that Shamar had every tennis shoe there ever was. He loved that Shamar was named after him. De’mar could not wait for the recent arrival of his nephew by Deona, -- Tahj Robert Lee. One day De’mar said to his Dad, Cory Sr. and his Mom Karen, “Pops you are going to preach my funeral” and here we are today. De’mar had some obstacles as we all have. He was dyslexic and dealt with it the best way he could. He was so glad when he found out that he could ask his cell phone how to spell words instead of transposing his letters because of dyslexia. He would say “Haha, I got em now” because he could now spell the words. On November 25, 2015 De’mar married the love of his life, Latessia Milbourne and they lived together until his death on August 21, 2019. De’mar is the father of four girls whom he loved unconditionally and thought the world of: Keynaja Trader, Monique Blue, Demariah Milbourne and Demara’ Milbourne. De’mar was proudly a member of Ballard Boyz Racing. He absolutely loved Ballard Boyz Racing and felt honored that they thought so highly of him. He would proudly tell anybody whether they asked or not…”You know I’m with the Ballard Boyz right”; we would say “Yeah Mar we know you are with the Ballard Boyz.” He considered Apostle Sharon Sampson to be his Pastor and Rapture Ready Ministries to be His church. He loved the people there. De’mar loved his Mom Karen and he called her all day everyday. Wherever he was and wherever she was, he would find her and Karen is equally in love with her “Mar.” De’mar would never let anyone forget about his Pop Pop Robert Lee Milbourne. He always let us know what Pop Pop would have said about a situation; he would say “you know if Pop Pop didn’t like it, I don’t like it.” He loved his Mom Mom Delores (Ray) and he always called and checked on her. He would say, “Mom Mom, what you need; I got you!” He loved his family and everybody knew it. He is further survived by his family: Great Great Great Uncle Oliver “Sonny” Hearn, Great Aunt Reverend Wilda Spence, Great Uncle Charles Milbourne, Great Uncle James Milbourne, Great Aunt Elsie Milbourne, Great Aunt Sarah Martha White, Uncle Bobby Kersey and Aunt Sissy Kersey; his Cousins Tanesha Milbourne, Maurice Milbourne (Julie), Monica Walker, Lamonte’ Milbourne, Leeanah Milbourne and Leah Clark; Niece Laila Johnson and Nephew Jonathan Edwards, Jr.; God Mom Pamela Green and God Sister Shanell Taylor. He was preceded in death by: his Grandparents Robert Lee Milbourne MSP (Retired) and Roseanne and Buck Cottman; Great Grandmothers Betty Spence and Elsie Milbourne; Great Grandfather Ballard Milbourne and cousin Shaunia Nicole Milbourne. De’mar was a kind, happy, funny, hilarious soul and meant no harm to anyone. He would give you the shirt off of his back. In his last act of kindness, because of the heart attack that he suffered, we were asked by the Weill Cornell Medical College through the Medical Examiner’s Office to donate De’mar’s heart for research. We all knew that De’mar would have loved to be able to help someone else so that’s just what we did. De’mar’s Big Heart will be used to help spread KINDNESS and LOVE with whomever it comes into contact. May the love and laughter of De’mar Milbourne be felt and heard throughout all of the World; He will be surely missed by all!! To God Be the Glory for De’mar’s Life!
