DeLares M. Geer

De'Lares Marie Geer entered into this world on the 9th of September 1942, as one of six siblings from the union of the late Mamie and Eugene Carter. Due to the premature death of her Mother, De'Lares, her brothers and her sisters were reared by her Maternal Aunt, the late, Mildred Williams of Pensecola, FL. She attended the public schools of that city, and graduated from the Booker T. Washington Senior High School in 1960. She also attended the Community College in Pensecola, where she studied to be a Dental Hygienist. She served under Doctor Donald Spence, in a private practice setting, in her local community, prior to relocating out of the area. She married William Norman Geer, Jr. on October 16, 1965, and remained married for 44 years, until his death in 2009. De'Lares was a devoted wife to William as he served in our Nation's Military Armed Forces, within the United States Air Force. To this union, was born two children, Carlis and De'Bora Geer. Along with being a supportive wife to William, De'Lares made herself available to serve in the hospitality department at her home church, The Mt. Zion A.M.E Church. De'Lares joined Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in 1989, and immediately went to work. She formed a particular close relationship to the late Rev. R. W. Coleman based on mutual regard for food. As stated, De'Lares was preceded in death by her Husband, and her Maternal Aunt. Also preceded by her Brothers, James and Eugene Carter, and recently her Sister, Willa Mae Gaines. She leaves two children, Carlis Geer of Pensecola, Fl., and De'Bora Tyler (Robert) of Dover, DE. One Sister, Ann Mimms of Indianapolis, Indiana. A Brother, Andrew Carter of Amherst, Massachusetts, and Brother Sylvester Gainey of Pensacola, FL. Her Grandchildren include; Marcus Geer, San Diego, CA., Terri Newell (Jeremiah) Atlanta, GA., Carla Ferguson (Deantae), Raleigh, NC, Leon Harrison (Shanita) Pittsburgh, PA and Jaylin Harrison, Dover, DE., She also leaves behind nine Great-Grands, and a host of Nieces, Nephews, and extended family.
