Deja Sade' Harrison

Deja Sadé Harrison was born on February 28, 1999, in Greenwood, South Carolina, to Syretta C. Harrison and the late Jamil A. Watson. Deja attended Hodges Elementary School in Greenwood, South Carolina. After moving to Dover, Delaware, in 2006, she was educated at Booker T. Elementary School, William Henry Middle School, Central Middle School and Dover High School. She graduated from High Roads School in Woodside, Delaware. Deja was a social butterfly in elementary and middle school. She was remembered by every teacher she had, because she always stood out. ‘Deja Doo’ the nickname her mother gave her, was a blessing to her mother. She bought so much joy and happiness, not only to her mother’s life, but also to her family’s life. Deja was the apple of her mother’s eye and she loved her so much. Deja was such a happy baby, but if you wanted to hold her, and she wasn’t too familiar with you, she would let out a cry so piercing, it would go through your whole body. Her mother, grandmother or uncles had to come to her rescue. Spoiled, of course, since she was the first child to her mom and grandchild of her late grandmother Jacqueline. As a baby, Deja loved to be rocked and cuddled by her grandmother, who called her ‘Sookie’. They always had a special bond. Deja won a contest at Olan Mills in Greenwood, South Carolina for having the most beautiful baby pictures. She also took Jazz, ballet and tap dance lessons when she was younger. She enjoyed singing and dancing and was very good at both. Deja also loved shopping, going to the movies, traveling, drawing, fashion and makeup. She especially liked to buy anything in her favorite colors, which were pink and black. She often talked about wanting to go to school for fashion design. Deja was extremely smart, intelligent and funny. She had a smile that would light up a whole room. Family was very important to her and she was very protective of her brothers. One of her most memorable trips was going to Disney with her family. Recently, she vacationed in Florida with her family, and had an awesome time swimming, sightseeing, laughing, having fun and of course shopping. Deja will always be loved and forever in our hearts. The memories we have of her will be cherished forever. Deja was preceded in death by her father, Jamil A. Watson; grandmother, Jacqueline M. Harrison; great grandmothers, Ella M. Davis and Annie Jean Jackson; and great grandfather, Scurry Harrison.
