Deborrah Elvira Deshields

Deborrah Elvira DeShields, affectionately called “Debbie", was born on Thursday, February 26, 1953 to the late Elizabeth Corbin and Robert Tingle in Seaford, Delaware. She was called to her eternal rest on Sunday, November 8, 2020, at Lofland Park Center in Seaford, Delaware. Debbie was a graduate of Seaford Senior High School Class of 1971 in Seaford, Delaware, where she excelled in softball and basketball. She truly loved playing sports and that love trickled down to her only child, Delino “Bop” DeShields. After high school, she enlisted in the United States Army with the rank of Private First Class. While in the Army, she served as Supply Clerk/Armorer Supply Clerk. She was honorably-discharged and received a National Defense Service Medal. Debbie graduated from Delaware Technical & Community College and Delaware State College (University) where she received a degree in Social Work. She truly enjoyed helping others and in her early life she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Methodist Manor House, in Seaford. Afterwards, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia to be closer to her son, Bop and her grandchildren. Debbie spent her later years helping to raise her grandchildren. Debbie accepted Christ as her Lord and Personal Savior on June 21, 2014, at her brother, Timothy DeShields’ funeral. Debbie was preceded in death by; her mother, Elizabeth Corbin; her father, Robert Tingle, one brother, Timothy DeShields, one sister, Phyllis Batson. She treasured her son and embraced every moment with him and her grandchildren. Debbie leaves to cherish her memory; a son, Delino “Bop” DeShields (Michelle) of Atlanta, Georgia; a special son, Julius Purnell of Atlanta, Georgia; a god son, William “Stoney” Briggs (Stephanie) of Glen Bernie, Maryland; sisters; Elaine Carrington of Baltimore, Maryland; Leola Tingle of Seaford, Delaware, Rev Rebecca “Margery” Batson of Dover, Delaware, Barbara Jones of Laurel, Delaware, Pandora Cannon of Boston, Massachusetts and Reba West (Chuck) of Seaford, Delaware; brothers; Robert Batson, William Batson, Harold Batson of Seaford, Delaware and Alfred Batson of Lincoln, Delaware; a sister-in-law; Jennifer DeShields of Seaford, Delaware; five grandchildren; Delino DeShields, Jr., Diamond DeShields, D’Angelo DeShields, Denim DeShields, and Delaney DeShields all of Atlanta, Georgia; and one great grandchild; Milana Jade DeShields and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
