Deaconess Wessie E. Boney-Warrick

Deaconess Wessie E. Boney-Warrick was born in Bolton, North Carolina, to Johnny Lafayette and Gracie Randall Jones. God gave her wings on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at Christiana Care, in Middletown, Delaware. Wessie graduated from Armour High School. After graduating high school, she enrolled in Homemaker’s Trade Designer School – Raleigh, NC and completed her academic pursuit at Shaw College (now Shaw University) majoring in Home Economics. She was employed with State of Delaware, as a Legislator Aide. After retiring, she was employed for many years with House of Wright Mortuary under Robert O. Wright I. Remaining active and exercising her God-given skills, she started a successful entrepreneurship in garment making. After moving to Delaware, Wessie joined New Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, under the Pastorate of Reverend T.R. Carter; later becoming a chartered member of Latter Day Missionary Baptist Church. She previously held memberships in good standing at following Missionary Baptist Churches: Rock of Faith Memorial and Macedonia. At the time of Deaconess’ transitioning, she was a member of Harrison Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, under the Pastorate of Reverend William Carter. Wessie was a member of the ICUA of DE Ushers, Unit 1 for 25 years, before retiring. Wessie was also an ordained Deaconess under the leadership of Pastor Charles Watson (Faith Memorial Missionary Baptist Church). More importantly, she loved the Lord and did not mind letting the world know she was saved by God the Father Himself! Wessie was united in holy matrimony to the late Liston Boney and from that union, the Lord blessed her with four wonderful boys, Darryl, Donnell, Derrick and Dexter. Later she married the love of her life, Charles “Billy” Warrick and the two became inseparable! She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and her goddaughters Terri & Precious, shopping, traveling, cooking, sewing, attending church services and listening to gospel music. She loved spending time with her grandchildren! Wessie was a retired member of Hearts of Hope Red Hat Society. Wessie was so extraordinary at heart! Deaconess Warrick was preceded in death by her parents, Lafayette and Gracie; brothers, Lee and Rev. Willie Jones; and sisters, Mary Jenkins, Betty Loatman and Mattie Flonnory. Wessie is survived by her husband, Billy Warrick; sons, Darryl Boney (Tomiko), Wilmington, DE; Donnell Boney (Collette), Middletown, DE; Derrick Boney (Myra) Smyrna, DE and Dexter Boney (Keya) Bear, DE; daughter, Cynthia Perry, NC; stepchildren, Charee Campbell (Alex), Tara Reeves and Mark Reeves; sisters and brother, Virginia Bratcher (Terry) of MD; Deacon Jerry Jones (Teresa), NC, Crystal (Kevin), NC, Cleathus Jones and Bettye Goldsberry, Wilmington, DE and Eunice Parker (John), New Castle; in-laws, Katrina Jones-Adams, Bishop Melvina Fields (Alvin), Charlie Warrick, Willie, Helen, and Robert Boney (Barbara); goddaughters, Terri Tucker (Kevin) and Precious Hopkins; grandchildren, Deanna (Justin), Dexter Jr., Deja, Lamont, Tia, D’Ante, Madeline, Donnell Jr., Kayla (Chermell) Simmons, DeShawn, Demiya, Christina, Karon, and Tevin; 13 great grandchildren; special classmate, Dorothy Canty; special friends, Joanne Hopkins, Helen Carson, Zennie Harmon, Eloise Jones and Katy Taylor and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, classmates and friends.
