David Wilson Barkley Jr.

Obituary On Friday, March 1, 2019, God called one of his favorite musicians home. He was tired and he was ready. David Wilson Barkley, Jr. (Buck has he was affectionately known), was born on September 11, 1954 in Salisbury, Maryland to the late David, Sr. and Alberta Barkley. David attended Wicomico County public schools, graduating from Wicomico High School in Salisbury, Maryland in 1974. He was employed by Delmarva Recycling for over 30 years until the company was sold and he left to work for his formerl supervisor, from that company, Dave Eccleson. David had promised Dave that if he started a business he would be there until the end. He kept that promise until his health failed. On August 21, 1982 David was joined in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Armenthia Long, and from this union were born two daughters whom he loved dearly. David joined Lighthouse Full Gospel Ministries in 1994 where he was the drummer until his health began to fail. This is where he gave his life to the Lord and never turned back. He loved playing the drums for different band groups around town. In his spare time, he loved to go fishing. Because he said that it was very comforting and relaxing, he would stay for hours. David loved spending time with his family, whether it was barbequing, hosting big dinners at his home or just going out to eat. He was a jokester and loved to make people laugh. He loved to give, when his sister would come home from New Jersey. He always had to have something for her to take back. He loved to dress and would not go shopping and not purchase a “Bow Tie.” David loved his daughters and grandchildren and he just loved people in general. David leaves to cherish fond memories with: his wife, Armenthia of thirty-six (36) years; two daughters, Tamara (Cory) and Tiffany (special friend Kevin), all of Salisbury, Maryland; three grandchildren, Tyra and Taron Barkley and Ava Robles; five sisters, Bertha Robinson and Bernice Dashiell, both of Salisbury, Maryland, Mary Jones of Trenton, New Jersey, Donzella (Keith) and Laverne Webster, all of Salisbury, Maryland; one brother, Robert Barkley of Trenton, New Jersey and one aunt Mayo Waters; four godchildren, Omariah Estrada, Jordyn Dashiell, Brian Price, Jr. and Brookes Price, all of Salisbury, Maryland and a host of special nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
