Darius Patterson Riley

Darius Patterson Riley Ross was born on January 6, 1988, at Kent General Hospital, to Mary and Walter Ross. Although not enough time spent here on Earth with us, God, knowing best and needing him more, called him home on April 10, 2018, at the age of 30. Born and raised in Dover, Delaware, Darius attended Capital School District. He worked various jobs throughout the years including Courtland Manor, Dover. Darius enjoyed sports, playing basketball and rooting for his favorite football team, the Baltimore Ravens. Darius always carved out time a few times a week to watch professional wrestling with his parents. He enjoyed spending time with his family sharing endless stories, memories and laughs. He had a memory like an elephant, and never forgot anything, so no one was safe from a “Darius memory”. When he wasn’t spending time with his family, Darius would hang out with his best friend/brother Lamar “Bodie” Reed and his cousin, Gerard McDonald. In his spare time, Darius would get dressed to kill, empty every hair product jar and cologne bottle in the house, just to be going absolutely nowhere. Darius was so kind and caring, always showing concern, questioning and wondering how everyone was doing. Wise beyond his years, Darius was quick to offer advice and words of encouragement to anyone he felt needed it. All of the kids loved Darius and he would entertain them without hesitation. We are all so blessed to have known and to have loved Darius. His million dollar smile, and the grin that he kept on his face, will truly be missed, but forever embedded. A huge piece of a beautiful puzzle is now missing, but shall be filled with memories and stories of our son, brother, uncle, nephew cousin and friend. Darius was preceded in death by his sister, Lenay Harrison and her husband, Bennie Harrison of Magnolia, DE. He was survived by his parents; Walter and Mary Ross of Dover, DE; sister, Valerie Riley of Dover, DE; two brothers, Anthony Riley of Dover, DE and Walter “Lee” Riley and his wife Sheryl Riley of Woodbridge, DE; eight uncles; seven aunts; four nephews, three nieces; five great-nieces and nephews.
