Curtis Robin Douglas

Curtis “Curt” Robin Douglas departed this life suddenly at Queens Hospital Medical Center in Jamaica, New York on Sunday, March 27, 2016. Born October 2, 1952, he was the youngest of eight children born to Ogress and Alice Lee Savage Douglas. Curtis joined Dee’s Chapel UMC in Horntown, Virginia at a very early age and when visiting home he attended Dee’s Chapel and Tabernacle Baptist Churches. He graduated 1972 from Snow Hill High School and from there he attended Salisbury State University (formerly Salisbury State College), Salisbury, Maryland, for a few years before deciding that the State of Maryland Police Academy was his next step where he became a Maryland State Trooper from October, 1976 – October, 1978 After this time of service, he worked a variety of jobs which included Maple Shades Youth and Family Services, Chung-King Foods, and Security Services Officer just to name a few. He relocated to New York where he worked at Café Wha? Held security positions at a host of places and last month retired after several years from The Avalon Hotel, New York, NY. He enjoyed sports (basketball, baseball and lacrosse), telling jokes and had a great love for dogs. They were almost human to him to where he would talk to Budda (his favorite dog) as if he were talking to you and me, and dared him to disobey. Left to cherish his memory are two children – Tiffany Wilson, Fruitland, Maryland; Derrien Douglas, Cumberland, Maryland; and four grandchildren. Two sisters – Grace Holland (Leroy), Pocomoke City, Maryland; Audrey Gibson (Joseph), Glenside, Pennsylvania, Four Brothers – Ernest Douglas (Nanny Lou), Parksley, Virginia; Martin Knox (Doris), Craddockville, Virginia; Wallace Douglas, Pocomoke City, Maryland; and Lawrence Douglas (Doris), Clarksville, Tennessee. A sister-in-law, Valerie Douglas, Wilmington, Delaware and an aunt, Madeline Hope, Horntown, Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and a special, dedicated friend, Gale Hall, Pocomoke City, Maryland. He was preceded in death by his parents Ogress and Alice Lee Douglas, One sister, Mildred Douglas Watkins; Three brothers – Eugene “Jake” Taylor, James Douglas, Sr., and Ronnie Douglas and other loving relatives. Curt’s love for his family was most important and he shared all he had with us and you knew you were loved by him. The special memories we all share will forever remain in our hearts.
