Constance Frances Hicks

Constance “Connie” Frances Hicks, was born to the late Bernice Delores Parker and Milton Hicks Sr., on Monday, November 30, 1959, at Mulkey Hospital in Millen, Georgia. Connie received her early education from Phyllis Wheatley Public School and later attended Woodbridge High School and graduated in 1977. Connie received her Associate’s Degree in Human Services from Delaware Technical and Community College in Georgetown, Delaware, in 1979, and her Bachelors in Human Services in 1981, from Delaware State College, now known as Delaware State University, in Dover, Delaware. Connie later moved to Providence, Rhode Island, where she worked at Provident Bank. She later moved back to Delaware, where she pursued her career as a social worker for the State of Delaware. She retired from the State of Delaware in 2016, after 30 years of public service, due to illness. Connie was a devout Christian. Throughout her life, she attended Ebenezer Baptist Church, Williams Chapel and Mount Olive Baptist Church, where she served in the office as a trustee. She enjoyed sharing the word and the love of God with those with whom she came in contact. Connie was very passionate about her family and friends. She was a great daughter, niece, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Although she did not have biological children, she dedicated her life to helping raise and nurture all of her nieces and nephews; ALL 100 of them!! The love she gave was unmatched and left an impact on everyone that she encountered. She loved to share memories of her childhood and college years with whomever would listen. Connie will be remembered for her kind heart and loving personality. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and cherished her, but her life and legacy will continue to live on. Connie was preceded in death by her mother, Bernice D. Hicks; father, Milton Hicks, Sr.; nephew, Jordan Michael Seth-Calvert Hicks; and a great nephew, Cameron Russ. Connie leaves to cherish her memory, three sisters, Beverly Sanchez (Danny) of Bridgeville, DE; Cynthia Hicks (Bridgeville, DE) and Trenda Rawls (Pembroke, GA); four brothers, Milton Hicks, Jr. (Trina) of Lewes, DE, Joey Hicks (Bridgeville, DE), Harry Hicks (Pembroke, GA) and Damascus Graham (FL); ten nieces, Shenika Parker (Salisbury, MD), Sharay and Sharonda Knight (Milford, DE), Dayshona Matthews (Milford, DE), Yanelle Powell (Milford, DE), Rahnice Parker (Salisbury, MD), Miranda Parker (Bridgeville, DE), Ashley Williams (Statesboro, GA), Leshaunda Allen (Greenwood, DE), Dejoure Rawls (Statesboro, GA), Afrika Whaley (Dover, DE), Sa’nia Hicks (GA) and De’jonae Graham (Florida); three nephews; William Parker (Akron, OH), Leshaun Allen (Bridgeville, DE) and Harry Hicks (Savannah, GA). In addition, she leaves 36 great nieces and nephews; seven great-great nieces and nephews; four godchildren; and a host of cousins, family and friends.
