Clinton Cooper Jr.

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”( Psalm 27:1). On Saturday, June 10, 2017, the Lord in His infinite wisdom, sent his angels to take the soul of his child, Clinton “Tank’ Cooper, Jr. to eternal rest at Coastal Hospice by the Lake in Salisbury, Maryland. Born in Windsor, North Carolina on February 2, 1944 to the late Lucy and Clinton Cooper, Sr., Tank was the oldest of 10 children. “Tank” as he was known to most people, was employed by Buddy Boy in Snow Hill and Golden Pride in Stockton until it closed. He was always an outdoors person and he thoroughly enjoyed farm work. He was employed first by the late Pete Watson and then Lambertson Farms, until his health prevented him from working. Tank was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He did his best for his family and loved ones and anyone else who needed him. If you asked for Clinton Cooper, no one knew who you were talking about, but just say “Tank” and everyone knew him. He was well-liked and respected. He fought his illness well and often said, “Don’t worry about me, because me and God has this all worked out.” Tank was a member of Mount Hope Baptist Church for many years. His leaves precious memories with: his loving wife of almost 49 years, Susie Cooper; his son, Clinton “Buttons” Cooper; his daughter, Cherryssa “Vonne” Cooper; his beloved granddaughters, Jaelyn and Kenae’ Cooper-Holland, all of Stockton, Maryland; one brother, Mike (Denise) Cooper; three sisters, Lucy Cooper and Carolyn Outlaw, all of Windsor, North Carolina and Stella Jefferson of Monroe, North Carolina; mother-in-law, Margaret Collins of Snow Hill, Maryland; brothers-in-law, Thomas (Stephanie) Collins of Salisbury, Maryland, and Hilton and Jones Collins, both of Snow Hill, Maryland; sister-in law, Vera Cooper of Snow Hill, Maryland; his aunt, Meta Thomas of Norfolk, Virginia; three special nieces, Charlotte Gilliam, Sharon Cooper-White and Natasha Cooper, all of Windsor, North Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. He also leaves behind some very special people including, Bruce (Paula) Lambertson and family and Danny (Janet) Outten. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers and one sister. Tank will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all his family and friends. If you needed a good laugh, let him enter the room. Rest in peace, Tank, and know that you were loved here on earth but God our Father in heaven loves you the best.
