Christine Ford

Christine Ford was born on February 2, 1929, to the late Melvin and Annie Marie Hopkins in (Piney Neck) Rock Hall, Maryland. She departed this life on Saturday, April 6, 2013 in Newark, Delaware at her son’s residence. Christine shared her mother’s womb with her twin sister, Clementine and in life they were inseparable, except when they married and went to live in separate locations. She was the wife of the late Walter A. Ford, Sr. and from that union, two sons were born, Walter A Ford, Jr. and Steven Ford. She was educated in the Kent County School System, The Henry Highland Garnett High School in Chestertown, Maryland, from which she graduated. Christine was baptized as an infant at Asbury United Methodist Church, where she received her Christian education, later made her Salvation confession and remained a member for her entire lifetime. She was an active member of Asbury until her health began to fail in 2011. She then went to live with her son Steven, and his wife Lynn, who cared for her until her passing. However, previously, She faithfully served as a member of The Georgetown Gospelett’s, the Kitchen committee and the Chairperson of The Annual Grandparents Day . She was honored as a Communion Steward of 31 years in 2011. Her employment history included, The Strawberry Factory of Rock Hall, MD. The Vita Food Company and The Campbell Soup Company of Chestertown, MD. Christine liked to watch Basketball games, The Soaps, other movies and to go Shopping with her first Cousin, Meriam Wilson Spriggs. Christine was preceded in death by her mother and father, Annie Marie and Melvin Hopkins; husband, Walter Ford Sr.; twin sister, Clementine Willis and son, Walter Ford, Jr. She leaves her memories to be cherished by her devoted son, Steven Ford (wife Lynn); three grandchildren, Steven Ford, Jr., Tamara S. and Kevin Ford; five great-grandchildren; two godchildren, Tamara Cooper and Arlo Wilson; five sisters, Hattie M. Jones, Doris Thompson, Reverend Violet Hopkins-Tann (Theodore R.), Melvina Miles and Evelyn Young (Amos); The Hopkins Family; Matriarch Cora Hopkins Brown (95yrs.); a very close cousin, Meriam Spriggs; devoted nieces, nephews and greats; and a host of cousins, other relatives and Friends.
