Charles Oliver Parsons

Charles’s Journey Charles Oliver Parsons II went to rest in the arms of the Lord on the night of May 12, 2024. He was eighty-three (83) years old. Charles, affectionately known as “Sonny”, was the only son and third of four children born to the late John and Lucinda Parsons on April 5, 1941. Charles was educated in the public schools of Wicomico County Maryland, graduating from Salisbury High School in 1959. He studied at Bowie State College and served in the United States Army. Charles married Valorie Matthews Parsons on April 26, 1980. Charles earliest Christian education was received at Mount Calvary United Methodist Church in Fruitland, Maryland. Prior to becoming a member of St. Michael Church of God in Christ in Princess Anne, Maryland, he and his family were baptized in November 1980 at Schumaker Pond in Salisbury, Maryland by their Pastor, the late Elder Porter Deal. He sang with the men’s group, “The Big Brethren” and served as a deacon for a number of years. He graduated from International Bible Institute and Seminary based in Plymouth, Florida. Charles was a master brick Mason, having learned his trade under his father. He worked at his craft for fifty (50) years. During his free time, he loved to fish, take his family crabbing and on drives in the country. Like his dad, he loved to farm and share his vegetables with family and friends. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lucinda Parsons and sisters, Catherine “Kitty” Williams and Frances Waters. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of forty-four (44) years, Valorie Parsons; his sons, John Parsons, and his wife Danielle and Charles Oliver Parsons III; his daughters, Charlett Cheeks, and her husband, Ty, Leslie Green and her husband, Donald, Ashley Parsons Anderson and her husband, Carl and Jacquelyn Parsons; a granddaughter who he raised as a daughter, Alexis Parsons, all of Salisbury, Maryland, Janet Fagans and her companion, Frank of Edgewood, Maryland, Samantha Matthews of Cambridge, Maryland, Rosetta Mills and her husband, Rick of Mocksville, North Carolina and Valorie Thomas and her husband, Clarence of Hurlock, Maryland; his sister, Jacqueline Johnson of Fruitland, Maryland; sister-in-law, Loretta Matthews of Camden, New Jersey and brother-in-law, Emmanuel Matthews of Salisbury, Maryland. He also leaves to cherish his memories twenty-three grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Lovingly Submitted ~ The Family
