Charlene Lolita Dean

Charlene Lolita Dean was born May 14, 1975 at Dover Air Force Base Hospital to the late Charles Lawrence Dean and Alfreda Fisher-Dean. Charlene departed this life on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at home. Charlene gave her life to Christ at her baptism in August 1975 at Whatcoat United Methodist Church with the late Reverend Clayton E. Hammond as pastor. She became a member of the Cherub Choir and Youth Choir along with being a faithful member of Methodist Youth Fellowship where her late Godmother, Carrye Mae Sims, was the Advisor. At the age of 14, Charlene did her confirmation class with Mrs. Althea Armstrong. When she turned 28, she joined the United Methodist Women and served one year on the Dover District United Methodist Women as Communication Coordinator. Charlene was educated in the Capital School District and graduated from Dover High School on Saturday, June 12, 1993. While at Dover High School, she was a member of the Dover High School Choir and a member of the first Gospel Choir for Dover High School. The late Collette Smith Morrow was the director and a classmate. After graduating from Dover High School, she attend one year at Strayer Business College in Washington, DC. Upon returning from Washington, DC, she worked at various business jobs and then she ventured to Omaha, Nebraska where she remained until the summer of 1997. Returning to Dover, she worked at the Holiday Inn as a Front Desk Clerk and then to Fran’s Car Shop as a Receptionist and remained their until her health started to fail her. The most enjoyable day of her life was when her daughter, Charlisa Lynn Johnson, was born. She was the apple of her eye until her death. Charlene was a very outgoing person and one of her strongest personal qualities was she had a genuine concern for the welfare of people. Even in death Charlene touched the lives of others. Her smile will be missed and talking about the soap operas (Young and the Restless and Bold and the Beautiful) and on her cell phone chatting with family and friends daily. When those two soap operas came on, she made sure that she wouldn’t be on her cell phone and have her a Pepsi to enjoy them. She was a loving mother who would do anything for her daughter, Charlisa, and loved coming to church to see her Praise Dance. Charlene was preceded in death by her father, Charles Lawrence Dean; her paternal grandparents, Marjorie P. and Alfred S. Fisher; her maternal grandparents, Minnie and James Dean, and her son, George Philip Johnson, Jr. She leaves to cherish her loving memories her devoted mother, Alfreda Fisher-Dean of Dover; daughter, Charlisa Lynn Johnson of Dover; loving sister, Carolyn Dean-Martin of Dover; an aunt, Ann Dean of Washing, DC; two nephews, Melvin Frank (Frankie) Ross, Jr., of Atlanta, Georgia and Day-Shawn Lawrence Dean of Dover; one niece, Bralyn Nichelle Wright of Dover; a Godfather, Freddie Depp of Dover and Godsister, Martha Sims-Wilson of Dover; five Godbrothers, Dr. Michael Casson, Donald Cannon, Steve Harris, James E. Bunkley all of Dover, and Ricky Lee of Phoenix, Arizona, and a host of cousins, extended family and friends.
