Catherine M. Cannon

Catherine M. Cannon, the daughter of the late Guy Roach and Edna Nichols, was born on Tuesday, August 7, 1923, in Seaford, Delaware. She was Edna's only child. She was preceded in death by her husband, Brooks Cannon, Sr.; two sons, Robert and Wayne Cannon; one sister, Fondella Lee Roach, and a son-in-law, William Justice. She departed this life on Christmas Day, Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at the Lofland Park Center in Seaford, Delaware. "Mom Catherine", as she was lovingly-known by many, was joined in Holy Matrimony to Brooks Cannon on October 16, 1940. Together, they had eight children. She received her education at Blocksom School in Seaford, Delaware. She was an excellent student and loved to read and write poems. Mom Catherine was a homemaker and was employed for over 40 years as an Avon Sales Representative. Everybody knew her as "The Avon Lady". She always greeted you with her beautiful smile and SHE LOVED EVERYONE! She attended Bethel United Methodist Church in Federalsburg, Maryland, where she accepted Christ as her Lord and Personal Savior. She loved to sing hymns and had an amazing voice. Some of her favorites were "Rough Side of the Mountain" and "Going Up Yonder". Her favorite hobbies were sewing, singing, baking those delicious bundt cakes and especially cooking her good fried chicken. In her pastime, she liked to travel. Mom Catherine was the President of the CSB Travel Club. She sponsored trips for many years for family and friends. Mom Catherine was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and mother-in-law. She leaves to mourn her loss, her children, Brooks Cannon, Jr., of Seaford, DE; Donald, Sr. (Henrietta) of Seaford, DE, Barbara Harmon of Lewes, DE, Melvin Cannon (Alfreda) of Seaford, DE, Rev. Theresa Justice of Seaford, DE and Ronnie Cannon (Venita) of Milford, DE; four sisters, Ethel Robinson of Milford, DE, Ronell Brown (Robert) of Seaford, DE, Novella Johnson of Seaford, DE and Venetta Waples (Robert) of Seaford, DE; four brothers, Jackie Robinson (Phyllis) of Dover, DE, Juan Roach (Sharon) of Middletown, DE, Guy Roach, Jr. (Darlene) of Bridgeville, DE and Terrence Roach (Vanessa) of Salisbury, MD; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
