Carolyn Brittingham

It is with saddened hearts that we share that Carolyn Elaine Coston Brittingham passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, November 15, 2019 at the age of seventy-three (73). Carolyn Elaine Coston was born on March 14, 1946, the daughter of the late Norman James Coston and Gwendolyn Elizabeth Ennis. Carolyn was a graduate of Worcester High School. After graduating, she worked at Buddy Boy’s Plant, where she met her husband Ernest Britingham, Jr. She also worked for many years at the Hatchery in Snow Hill, Maryland. She retired in 2005 as a dietician at Hartley Hall in Pocomoke City, Maryland. She was a devoted member of Coolspring United Methodist Church where she served as a Lay speaker, an Usher, Choir member, Helping Hands member and President of the United Methodist Women. Carolyn loved spending time with friends and family. Besides that, she loved without reason and just because and she gave her love so freely to all who needed it. A strong woman whose body was torn by illness, she still marched on as a good and faithful soldier for Christ. She loved to read her Bible, solve crossword puzzles, plant flowers, and go Christmas shopping. One of her biggest passions was for the Lord and she touched many lives by helping them come to Jesus by getting saved. She devoted her life to following Jesus and would tell anyone about the goodness of the Lord. She would visit the sick in the hospitals and nursing homes, pray for them and cook for many families. Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be cherished and remembered always. She is survived by: her husband of forty-nine (49) years, Ernest Thomas Brittingham, Jr.; four children, Penny Schoolfield (Lionel) Ernest Brittingham III, Christina Moore (Anthony) and Hattie Brittingham; seven grandchildren, Stacy Schoolfield, Shawn Schoolfield, Antwaine Summerville, Tiquan Brittingham, Latrell Moore, Darius Brittingham and Tylik Brittingham; four great grandchildren; three siblings, Norma Brewington, Darnell Coston(Renea) and Felisa (David) Wainwright; five sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law and many other relatives and friends. Carolyn was preceded in death by her sisters, Edna Reynolds-Cooper and Peggy Brittingham Collins and brothers-in-law, Jerry Brittingham and Roland Brewington. Lovingly Submitted ~ The Family
