Carmel Lynn Gray-White

CARMEL’S JOURNEY…. A Time to Be Born Carmel Gray-White, a resident of Hebron, MD, was born on March 22, 1965. She was the daughter of Elsie M. Gray and the late Wade Peyton. A Time to Grow Carmel was educated in the public schools of Somerset County, graduating in the class of 1983. In High School she was a varsity cheerleader and a distinguished and proud member of the National Honor Society. She received an Alpha, Kappa Alpha scholarship, and pursued a degree in Accounting at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) in Princess Anne, MD. A Time to Work Carmel was employed by Altec in Fruitland, MD. She previously worked at Harvard Custom Manufacturing/Labinal for over thirty (30) years until the company closed. Her commitment to her work and colleagues was a testament to her dedication and strong work ethic. A Time for Family Known for her sweet spirit and radiant smile, she was a devoted daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Carmel loved spending time with her family. She cherished the many times she and her husband of nineteen (19) years would just go riding out together. Always keeping God first in her life, you could find her engaging in Bible study lessons in the comfort of her home. She was a great supporter of her children and grandchildren. She was always encouraging and motivating each of them with her gentle and loving spirit. Carmel had a talent for organizing, cooking, and had a passion for accounting. Her presence always brought warmth and joy to everyone she met. A Time to Minister A dedicated and active member of Salisbury Evangelist Church of Deliverance, Carmel served in multiple capacities, including Evangelist, Choir Member, Praise & Worship Leader and Youth Leader. She was a true example of Psalm 34:1 “I will bless the Lord at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” She was the best Praise & Worship leader; her love for God was felt by all who were in the church service with her. She was an anointed presider. If she was presiding, you were going to get with the program. She just had a way of drawing you in with her loving, sweet spirit. As one of the youth leaders, she always had a T.E.A.M. mindset and the young people loved and respected her. Later in the youth ministry, she became the SECD Youth President and continued to go forth. Carmel was dedicated to it all—shut ins, prayer services, Bible study, Sunday school, witnessing in the streets, passing out tracks, helping to organize youth conventions and more. She had a servant’s heart and everything she did was done with love and kindness. What a great legacy! A Time to Rest Carmel was peacefully called to her eternal rest on November 29, 2024 at Tidal Health in Salisbury MD, surrounded by her loving family. A Time to Cherish Carmel leaves a legacy of love with: her husband, Anthony “Tony” White of Hebron, MD; her two daughters, Jennifer Dickerson and Jelsie (Jeremi) Jones, both of Salisbury, MD; her mother, Elsie M. Gray of Salisbury MD; two brothers, Cornell (Denise) Gray of Westover, MD and Johnny Crandell of Ocean City, MD; two sisters, Linda Crandall of Salisbury, MD and Genine Campbell of Crisfield MD; four grandchildren, Brandon Gale, Jr., Jeniyah Gale, Ma’Kai Johnson and Mi’ara Jones; one great-granddaughter, Khloi Gale and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, spiritual daughters and sons. Carmel’s life will continue to be a source of inspiration and love.
