Beverly Rose Phipps

Beverly Rose Phipps was born on February 23, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York. She was the youngest child born to Thomas and Rhoda Allaway. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to St. Albans, Queens, New York. Beverly received her formal education in Queens, New York, and after graduating from Andrew Jackson High School, she started working in the clerical field. After she started a family, she went back t o school, earned her Associates Degree and became an executive secretary. Beverly worked at Interfaith Medical Center for many years and retired in May of 2000. Beverly met and married Raymond Phipps in 1959, and this union produced 3 children, Pamela Rose, Loretta Ramona and Jonathan Raymond. Beverly raised her family in Brooklyn and the family would travel back to Queens every Sunday for family dinners at her parents house. Her siblings and their families were in attendance, often joined by other family members, making the gatherings festive and full of love. After her husbands passing, Beverly sold her home and followed her daughter and her family to Delaware. She joined the Elegant Ebony Woman of the Red Hat Society, and was a very active member, participating in a number of social events and parties. Beverly loved her grandchildren dearly and was always providing love and support in all of their endeavors. Her passing has truly filled their hearts with sorrow, but they know she is in a better place. After she was diagnosed with lung cancer, Beverly admitted that she had no complaints. She lived life to the fullest and enjoyed playing cards, going to shows with her friends, traveling, and of course, going to Dover Downs. Beverly was predeceased by her husband Ray, her daughter Pamela, her son Jonathan and her sister Thelma. She leaves to mourn her passing, her daughter Loretta; son-in-law, James; brother, Thomas Allaway, Jr.; sister-in-law, Rose; granddaughter, Jada; grandsons, Julian and Justin; nephews, Michael and Brian; nieces, Patricia and her husband, Gregory and Yvonne; goddaughter, Arlene; a special devoted friend, Gretta, along with many relatives and friends. Beverly leaves behind strong memories of an energetic, powerful, independent woman who touched and was loved by all that met her. Lovingly Submitted by the Family
