The Life Journey of Bethenia Williams On Monday, December 30, 2019 around 5:15 PM, God looked down and saw his child, BETHENIA ANNA HANDY WILLIAMS, painfully struggling. He whispered to her, “your struggle is over, come on home,” and off she ran to be with Him. Bethenia Anna Handy Williams, known to many as “Betty”, was born to the late Archie Handy and Iva Horsey Handy on October 28, 1938. She graduated in the Class of 1956 from the former Salisbury High School where she was a member of the Glee Club, Dramatics, Typing and Physical Education Club. Betty was joined in marriage on December 7, 2000 to the late Richard Wayne Williams in Dover, Delaware. She loved children and worked many years at Lowan Pitts Day Care, in Dover, DE. It was there she met, feel in love and adopted her god daughter, Danajah “Nay Nay” Peace, at the age of eight weeks old. After moving back to Maryland, she became a foster grandparent at Shore Up, Inc. and Wicomico County Department of Social Services, both in Salisbury, MD. Betty loved to read books and to watch Soap Operas, Westerns and Wrestling. But most of all, she loved living at Gateway Apartments where she was member of the Gateway Families Association. She enjoyed socializing and hanging out in the hallway with the residents. She took pride in helping to beautify the second floor hallway and other areas of the complex with her planted flowers and seasonal decorations. Betty greatly loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She received a Christian Baptism on September 29, 2013 at New Life Apostolic Church, Salisbury, MD. Within the last year, she became a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, Hebron, MD. She was extremely jubilant to receive her Certificate of Membership. She was always grateful to be in the house of the Lord and giving him praise. Betty will dearly be missed by her niece who watched over her, Amelia Handy, Hebron, MD; God Daughter, Danajah “Nay Nay” Peace; Great-Grand God Daughter, Dazyiah Peace, both of Dover, DE; adopted sister, Geraldine Bacon, Laurel, DE; step-daughters, Maleia Williams, California and Richelle Blake, Pocomoke, MD; step-sons Ricky Williams, Taron Williams and Monty Williams, all of Pocomoke, MD; sisters-in-law Elizabeth Robinson, Annabelle (Bus) Harmon both of New Church, VA, Elva (Kenny) Dixon, Dover, DE and Mary (James) Williams, Florida; brother-in-law Theodore Williams, Onley, VA; and a host of other relatives and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents Archie & Iva Handy, her sister Delores Hopkins, and her husband Richard Williams. Lovingly Submitted, The Family
