Bernice Elizabeth Petter (Walker)

Bernice Walker Downing Petter was born on July 22, 1935, to the late John Henry Walker and Nona Mae Burns-Walker in Augusta, Georgia. Bernice departed this life on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, in Millsboro, Delaware, at the age of 83. Throughout the years, Bernice has held many different professions, worker at Paramount Poultry, bartender at the Bottle in Cork, housekeeper at Redwood Hotel, Customer Service at Ames, a chef at several Longneck, Delaware area restaurants, and a Volunteer at ACTS. She had many hobbies, such as antique collector, crocheting, gourmet cooking, reading, and sewing. She loved wearing her jewelry, the first thing she did after her bath was to put on her earrings, which determined what she was wearing for the day. She loved her beloved pets, Sparky and Princess. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; a step-father, Abraham Drummond; her spouses, Robert L Petter and Asbury Robert L. Downing; a special friend, Sammie Kelly; two sisters, Alberta Jerry and Gloria Jean; two brothers, Johnnie Drummond, and Michael J. Walker; a son, Clifford A. Downing and a son-in-law Elvis G. Felton. Bernice leaves to cherish her memory, a sister, Faye Walker of Florida; two brothers Robert A. Walker of St. Petersberg, FL and Jon E. Walker (Robyne) of Naples, FL; two daughters, Roberta M. Mann of Camden, DE and Lottie M. Downing of Bridgeville, DE; four grandchildren, Reinaldo V. Heredia, Jr. (Sandra), Julie E. Brown (James Briscoe), Aretha Johnson, Michael J. Mann; two adopted granddaughters, Karen D. Heredia, and Vicky Heredia; 14 great-grandchildren, Karina D. Heredia, Kiara D. Heredia, Julian D. H. Brown, Alexis Y. Heredia, Simone A. Anderson, Shantae A. Johnson, Jontae M. Mann, Sebastian A. Johnson, Ameenah R. Mann, Teeah Harvey (Kenney). K'Sondra Quinones', Bernard Calibuso, Rosa Calibuso, and Christian Calibuso; six great-great grandchildren, Tavon Taylor Jr., Isaiah E. Livingston, Damauri Gill, Dominic Quinones', Amir Taylor, and Kayren Harvey; two adopted daughters Debbie Melson of Frankford, DE; and Phyllis Calhoun of Delmar, DE; two sons-in-law, Silas Navarro of Frankford, DE and Daniel Veilleuix of Florida; two great-granddaughters-in-law, Karen D. Heredia and Vicky Heredia; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
