Barbara Ann Miller

BARBARA’S JOURNEY Barbara Ann Miller was born in Pocomoke City, MD on December 19,1943. She was the daughter of the late Willie Bishop (biological) of Pocomoke, MD and was raised by her loving parents, the late William and Lelia Corbin of Salisbury, MD. She peacefully departed this life on February 13, 2023 at the Wicomico Nursing Home in Salisbury, MD. Barbara loved the Lord and dedicated her life to Christ at an early age. Her spiritual development began as a child at Metropolitan United Methodist Church in Princess Anne, MD. As an adult, she faithfully served over 30 years at St. Paul AME Zion Church in Salisbury, MD. Barbara was always ready and willing to support ministries at St. Paul. Her church memberships included the Senior Choir, Senior Usher Board, Pastor Aides, and the Essentials Sunshine Ministry. Barbara received her formal education from the Somerset County school system. After high school, she was employed at Campbell's Soup and also worked as a chef at Johnny's and Sammy's in Salisbury for many years, until the restaurant closed. She always took great pride in her work and upheld a high standard of work ethics. After retirement, she completed courses to attain a child care provider license and then became the successful entrepreneur of Barb's Day Care in Salisbury. Barbara cared for young children with a warm, loving, compassionate heart, while also providing a nurturing and educational atmosphere. In addition to being a great cook, her hobbies included a passion for flowers and gardening. She was always seen outside planting lots of flowers in the front yard and enjoying her vegetable/fruit garden in the back yard. She also had a talent for decorating her home. Every holiday season was evident by the attractive exterior decor of Barbara Ann's home. Barbara Ann Miller leaves the following to cherish fond and precious memories: two sons, Charles "Chuck" Fontaine of Salisbury and Timothy "Tim" Fontaine of Federalsburg, MD; two brothers, Robert Holden (Jo Ann) of Princess Anne and Donald Corbin (Diana) of Salisbury; three sisters, Catherine Smith of Princess Anne, Marsha Beckett of Eden and Shenitta Smith (Patrick) of Salisbury; three grandchildren of Salisbury, Raushanah Fontaine, Charles Fontaine III, and Khadijah Fontaine; four great-grandchildren of Salisbury, Alaina McGee, Ahmari Fontaine, Khyler Fontaine, and Khayson Fontaine; 8 nieces, Valerie (Gary) of Edgewood, MD, Niccole of Eden, Donna of Richmond, VA, Roberta "Robbi" of Salisbury, Lisa (Elrich) of Princess Anne, Autumn of Edgewood, Aprille (Authur) of Fruitland, and Ky-Asia of Cambridge; 6 nephews, Jerome, Jaryl and Robert (Nicky) of Salisbury, Micheal of Baltimore, Adarryl of Princess Anne, and Patrick Jr. (Ebru) of Guam. Barbara also leaves behind a host of great nieces/nephews, cousins, extended family, and many friends who will treasure her memory. She was preceded in death by: her son, Anthony Fontaine; nephew, Robert Beckett, Jr. and husbands, Charles Fontaine of Princess Anne and Lawrence Joseph Miller of Salisbury.
