Gene B. Midgette Jr.

Gene Boyd Midgette, Jr. was born on August 26, 1964 to Shirley Mackey and the late Gene Midgette, Sr. He departed this life on Friday, August 1, 2014 at Christiana Care, Christiana, Delaware at the age of 49. Gene received his early education in the Indian River School District. He attended the Vocational Technical School where he studied Carpentry and Auto Mechanics. After graduating in 1982, Gene began his first career at Mary Ann’s Interior in Ocean View, Delaware where he worked for a number of years. He worked various jobs becoming a “jack of all trades”. Gene became a member and was baptized in September of 2009 and attended St. John 2nd Baptist Church under the leadership of his awesome Pastor, Reverend Annie J. Custis. Gene was a very lovable, kind-hearted and a family man. Gene loved getting his family together for gatherings and he enjoyed all the children. Gene loved to visit his mother and take her to what he called the boutique (ACTS). Gene was an all-time Dallas Cowboy fan. He loved to shop and enjoyed the holidays and family dinners. Gene always wanted to see his family happy and smiling. He battled a long illness that caused him various trips to Johns Hopkins. During his illness, God blessed him with a “Queen, his Audrey”, that became his prized possession on August 25, 2012. Gene was very happy with his blessing. When you saw one, you saw both. Gene was preceded in death by his father, Gene B. Midgette, Sr.; his maternal grandmother, Maltilda Andrews; paternal grandmother, Mahalie Midgette; one nephew, Ty’Ree Bowden and father-in-law, Wayne Thompson. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving mother, Shirley Mackey and stepfather, Henry Mackey of Millsboro, DE; his queen, Audrey Midgette of Seaford, DE; two sons, Gene Midgette, III (Kandi) of Dagsboro, DE. and Handsome Midgette of New Castle, DE; two daughters, Nydashia James and Jasha Price of New Castle, DE; two stepchildren, Melody Palmer and Jermar Thompson of Seaford, DE.; one god-daughter, Monchelle Waters of Frankford, DE; three brothers, Brian (Amy) Andrews of Dover, DE, Jerry Midgette of New Orange, New Jersey and Greg Williams of Wilmington, DE.; seven sisters, Tina Midgette of Millsboro, DE, Glenda (Troy) Bowden of Georgetown, DE, Carmean Reynolds of Georgetown, DE, Bridgette Reynolds of Ellendale, DE, Martha Midgette of Brooklyn, New York, Alicia Blanchard of Wilson, North Carolina and Valerie Mann of Seaford, DE; two aunt, Charlotte Bagby of Philadelphia, PA and Grace Andrews of Frankford, DE; two uncle, Joseph Andrews (Rebecca) of Seaford, DE and Cleveland Sample of Baltimore, MD; mother-in-law, Wanda Thompson of Seaford, DE.; three brothers-in-law, Anthony Williams, Mark Williams, and Wayne Thompson, Jr. of Seaford, DE.; three sisters-in-law; Robin Thompson of Dover, DE., Tracy Williams and Myra Thompson of Seaford, DE.; six grandchildren, Eden, Airelle, Olivia, Ava, Jaylin and Ja’Den; and Paula Gibbs and Grace Foulkrod (Grizzley), whom were like sisters; two best friends, Gary Waters and Vincent Mumford and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
