Augustine Robinson

Augustine Lavern Robinson, daughter of the late Elinor T. Nelson, was born on August 28, 1936, in Baltimore, Maryland. She went home to glory on June 4, 2021, at Compass Regional Hospice in Chestertown, Maryland. Augustine was called “Tina”, “Auggie” and “Hauntie”, by family and friends. Augustine attended Baltimore City Schools until relocating to the Eastern Shore, in Stevensville, Maryland. She graduated from Kennard High School, in Centreville, Maryland. After high school, Augustine attended Rosewood State Hospital as a psychiatric aide in 1971, and then in 1977, she went to The School of Practical Nursing of the State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in Baltimore, Maryland, to become an Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). After 27 years of dedicated service, Augustine retired from Clifton T. Perkins Pre-release Correctional Institution. Augustine was an outgoing person who enjoyed life to its fullest. She enjoyed attending church at Union Wesley in Chester, Maryland. She loved to shop and enjoyed going to the casino with her good friends, Romaine Ford and Mary & Irvin Tolson. She loved to eat crabs in the summer time and would wait for Bobby Turner to stop by just to share in the feast. Augustine enjoyed flying the friendly skies whether she was going to Atlantic City or Las Vegas or traveling up the road to Queens, New York, to visit Gladys Barney. Augustine was also an active member at The Grasonville Senior Center, where she liked to play Bingo, put puzzles together (the big pieces) and dancing "shaking a tail feather". Augustine loved to have family and friends come to visit, especially Alicia and Darryl, from North Carolina and she really loved having her great-great-great twin nieces, Aleyah & Aubrey, over. She would watch them play all day. She called them her babies and said they were born just for her. Augustine was such a bright light and when she laughed, it was one of a kind. You would never forget her once you met her. In addition to her mother, Augustine was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Robinson; nephews, Mercer and Stanley Turner; and great niece, Zakiyah Turner. Augustine leaves to mourn a special niece and caregiver, Takiyah Turner-Barney (George); and a host of other relatives and friends.
