Arlethia D. Brown

Arlethia D. Brown, “Lafna” as she was affectionately called, was born on March 23, 1949 to the late Warren and Daisy Saunders in Norfolk, Virginia. She departed this life on Sunday, January 11, 2015. Lafna received her early education at William C. Jason Comprehensive High School in Georgetown, Delaware. She joined and worked in the U.S. Army from 1982 to 1992 and also worked for the National Guard. She worked various jobs such as: HP Cannon, American Original, Inc., Swifts Poultry and Perdue Poultry Plant. She also worked as a truck driver and a school bus driver. Lafna joined Williams Chapel Church in Bridgeville, DE in 2006 and was a faithful member and also served as an usher for eight years. Prior to becoming a member of Williams Chapel Church, she was a former member of C.H. Fogie A.M.E. Church in Bridgeville, DE under the leadership of Bishop Pierre Parsons. She was preceded in death by husband, John (Wesley) Emory, Sr.; sister, Daisy Pinder and brothers, Charles Demary, Thurman and Eugene Wilson. She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Keisha Emory (Robert Duncan) and Patrece McWilliams (Allen Davis) of Seaford, DE; one son, John Emory (Deborah); five sisters, Allenzine “Lady” Joseph (Camitil) of Wilmington, DE, Rose Johnson of San Francisco, CA, Maybell Joyner of Bridgeville, DE, Mary Cook of Norfolk, VA and Ella Saunders of Nebraska; four brothers, Edward Wallace of Chesapeake, VA, Charles Bazemore and Edward Demary of Norfolk, VA and Warren Saunders of West Virginia; grandchildren, Warren Emory (Tereena) and Bryan Emory (Cierra) of Bridgeville, DE, Deonna Loper of Wilmington, DE, Tomikka Burton of Lewes, DE, Dajah, Dajon and Dominique Emory all of Bridgeville, DE, Shedrick, Blaize and N’Dea, Carleah Rayford, Tynetta and Andre Washington and Lashae McWilliams of Seaford, DE; five great-granchildren, Bryan Emory, Jr., Jah’Maris Williams, Jordan Emory, Jedidiah Brooks Emory and Lov-Lee; goddaughter, Minister Stephene Weal; special sons, Bryan Jones, Quinton Sykes and Shedrick Rayford, Sr.; fishing buddy, Charles Roundtree; tag team grandmothers, Helen and Bridgette Washington; special brother, Lee Livingston; niece and nephews, Sean Perry, Frederick Combs and Deknetra Perry; numerous special friends: Carl Hall, Pastor Charles & Cathy Smith, Frank & Michelle Deshields, Rosie Smack, Carol & Pierre Mills, Pamela Dale, Alana Smith, James Darling, Rayshon Baines, Richard Cannon, Robert Speight, Mother Lina Mae Horne, Ella Purnell, Catherine Ross, Jr. Gaines Inc.
