Annette Louise Townsend

OBITUARY On June 8, 2023, Mrs. Annette Louise Townsend was called to her heavenly father. She was born on August 10, 1947, in Salisbury, MD to the late Louise Ella and Edgar Loukeys Becketts. Annette Louise Becketts (Townsend) was educated in the Worcester County, Maryland public school system and eventually graduated from Worcester High School in Newark, MD in 1965. In 1967, Annette Becketts married the late Clarence Venza Townsend and from this union they had five children. In 1980, she relocated with her children from Stockton, Maryland to the Washington, DC area. After various job opportunities, she was eventually employed by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (METRO). In 2009, Mrs. Townsend retired from METRO after 25-years of credible service. What brought the most joy in her was family {especially her grandchildren}, fried chicken, crabs, the most famous dog - Scobby Doo, the Hallmark channel and DMX song ~ “\Party Up (Up in here) (Yall gone make me lose my mind!).” Also, every time she went home (Eastern Shore), she made it her business to visit Ocean City to get Fisher's Pop Corn, Boardwalk fries, and a good soft shell crab sandwich. Mrs. Annette Townsend was not only a mom to her four children, but to the entire neighborhood. She provided a meal, a place to sleep, a place to hang out and even Christmas gifts. Yes, she was a mom to many! Mrs. Townsend was also preceded in death by: one daughter, Starvell Townsend; two sisters, Doris Conner and Winnie Dennis; one brother, Vernon Becketts and two nephews, Keith Becketts and Boranagene Conner. Mrs. Townsend leaves to cherish her loving memories: The Townsend Tribe—one daughter, MiCheryl of Morningside, MD; three sons, Troy (Amy) of Waldorf, MD, Leroy (Shelby) of Crofton, MD and Michael (Lorena) of Waldorf, MD; seven grandchildren, Shaniqua of Morningside, MD, Sharone (Jubilee) of South Carolina, Shamar and Leila, both of Crofton, MD and Tania, Kylie and Kolton, all of Waldorf, MD; three great grandchildren; The Sampson Tribe—Julian, Za'Niyah and Zy'an; two god children, Casha (Garrett) Newman of Waldorf, MD and Shawn Richardson of Washington, DC; her sister, Helen Martin of Silver Spring, MD; one best friend, Debbie Smith of Capitol Heights, MD; seven nieces, Cordelia Tull, Jennifer Tucker, Faith Dennis, Cleo, Margaret, Joyce, and Thelma; four nephews, Reuben and Ronald Martin and John and Boris Conner and a host of relatives and friends.
