Anna W. Stouts

On Saturday, March 3, 2018, at 3:30 a.m., our Lord came and lifted our beloved Anna Amelia (Wilson) Stouts from the home of her loving son, Kevin and his wife, Joyce located in Wilmington, Delaware. She was 97 years old. Anna was the daughter of the late George and Bertie (Rose) Wilson. She was born on November 6, 1920, in Coleman, Maryland. She was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Wilson and one brother, Bernard Rose. Anna received her education from the Kent County Public School System. She graduated from Garnet High School as valedictorian of her class. After graduation, Anna went to Philadelphia to work at The Navy Yard, formerly known as the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and Philadelphia Naval Business Center. In 1942, Anna married Herman J. Stouts whom she loved dearly. From this blessed union came one son, Kevin. On July 9, 2001, her devoted husband returned to his heavenly home. Anna was not afraid to work and believed in doing her best in everything she did. She worked for the Potter Family located in Wilmington, Delaware for many years. Afterwards, Anna also worked for another private family; William L. Springer for fifty years. For fun and relaxation, Anna enjoyed cooking and baking and was excellent in doing both. However, her greatest joy came from helping others in any way she could. Her son, Kevin will always remember his mother’s loving and kind spirit toward everyone she met. Being able to see the good in everybody was a gift God gave to Anna. A matter of fact, one of Anna’s favorite sayings that we all could live by was, “To err is human to forgive is divine.” Anna loved and enjoyed having children visit her home. Often, there would be all of these little girls around with Kevin being the only boy. She took pleasure in teaching them lifelong skills. Driving and traveling from place to place were also enjoyed by Anna. Before she became ill, Anna attended church on a regular basis; never missing a service if possible. Although, she began her spiritual journey at Union United Methodist Church, she later in 1987, became a member of New Christian Chapel of Love United Methodist Church. Anna loved the Lord and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She participated in several women’s ministries but her main ministry was helping to cook meals and bake goods for the various afternoon fellowships held in the church hall. Moreover, during the Christmas Season, she made sure she gave everyone a Christmas card. In short, Anna was a giver. Anna will sincerely be missed by all who knew and loved her. She will especially be remembered by her caring and loving son, Kevin (Joyce); two stepchildren, Jackie Chapel (Luke) and Olythea Hunley; three grandchildren, Mia Gibbs, Danielle Gibbs, Dashawn Gibbs Sr.; five great grand-grandchildren, Sincere Lum, Dashawn Gibbs Jr., Marseilles Gibbs, Ameer Smith, and Anrisa Gibbs; one Goddaughter, Paulette Simmons; a dear cousin, Rosemary Brown; a devoted friend, Pastor Kathy Sommerville; four special nieces and nephews, Denise Rose, Bernadine Waterman (Reginald), Dwayne and Cynthia Rose; along with a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
