Anna Rebecca Kilson

Anna Rebecca Kilson, age 89, was born on March 20, 1930, in Trappe, Maryland, the 4th child of 14 children, born to the late Mary R. Chase and the late Josiah Chase. She departed this life in the home of her niece/sister, Jacqueline Gibbs, in Trappe, Maryland, on Sunday, January 19, 2020. Anna was educated in Talbot County Public Schools and graduated from Robert R. Moton High School on Port St. in Easton, Maryland. As a child she liked to play teacher and taught her siblings the alphabet and how to count before they entered kindergarten. She attended Scotts United Methodist Church in Trappe and taught Sunday school there. She became a member of Milton Avenue Methodist Church and later, Bethel A.M.E. church upon moving to Baltimore, Maryland. On January 1, 1952, Anna was united in matrimony with Howard Edward Kilson, Sr. Anna had four children, William Kenneth Chase, Howard Edward Kilson, Jr., Deborah Ann Kilson Hall and Michael Wendell Kilson. Living in Baltimore, Anna was a substitute teacher in the Baltimore City Public Schools. She retired from the State of Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration in Glen Bernie, Maryland, after 30 years of service. Anna loved children and organized the neighborhood children into the Eastside Service Club on Federal Street in East Baltimore. She enjoyed going to the Baltimore Orioles baseball games and loved her Baltimore Ravens. Annie also loved to shop and was always dressed from head to toe. She had a passion for writing poetry and would frequently visit hospitals and nursing homes to call upon the sick and elderly to talk and pray. Anna loved her family and most importantly she loved God first. In April 2018, Anna moved back to her hometown of Trappe, Maryland. She enjoyed attending Faith, New Life and Denton Church of Free Seventh-day Adventists with her sister Jacqueline. Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Mary R. Chase and Josiah Chase; husband, Howard E. Kilson, Sr., son Michael W. Kilson; four brothers, Levi Green, Charles Butler, Charles Chase and Joseph Chase; five sisters, Helen Pritchett, Harriet Washington, Elizabeth Blackwell, Alberta Chase and Roberto Chase; and one great grandson, Shawn A. Hall, Jr. Anna leaves to cherish her precious memories, two sons, William of Easton, MD and Howard of Baltimore, MD; one daughter, Deborah of Baltimore, MD; three grandsons, Joseph (Karen) of Royal Oak, MD, Shawn of Baltimore, MD and Jerome of Denton, MD; seven great-grandchildren, Olivia, Antonio, Ashanti, Terrell and Josiah; four sisters, Barbara, Jacqueline (Lester), Joyce and Mary; four brothers, Walter (Helen), James (Kathy), Robert (Harriet), and David (Dawn); one great uncle, Douglas; three special friends, Darrell “Robert” McLain, Elizabeth “Ms. Liz” and Gina Ramseur; two care providers, Jacqueline Gibbs (Lester) and Vanessa Chase; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
