Anna Virginia Cheers

Anna Virginia Cheers of Church Hill, Maryland, was born on December 16, 1927 in Queen Anne’s County, Maryland. She was the first born child of the late Joseph Webster Cheers and Eliza Jane Wright Cheers. She relinquished her earthly life to her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 12:25 AM, in her home, at 89 years of age. Anna was educated in the Queen Anne’s County Public Schools and pursued advanced courses at Chesapeake College. She performed several occupations during her life; domestic work in the state of Pennsylvania, a chauffeur in Maryland, a factory worker at the Caroline County Poultry Factory and retired after 35 years of service at the Campbell Soup Chicken Factory located in Kent County, Maryland. At Campbell Soup, she was known for her conscientiousness in getting the job done right, “quality” was her goal. God was the strength of her life. She devoted many years serving God in several capacities at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church where she was a faithful member. From her strength through God, she diligently served her family and the greater community, sometimes over extending herself to others and trusting that God would take care of her. She was strong in spirit up to her departure and had no complaints of physical health. Anna enjoyed family and took pleasure in being the family historian. She liked nature and loved to walk. At the family gathering in August 2017, she walked around the whole picnic area in Worton Park. She also enjoyed family vacations, traveling, and meeting new people (Bahamas, Canada, Florida, & South Carolina to name a few). At the various beaches and on the cruise ships, she loved sitting in the open, near the ocean, to read. And, she liked sitting on her own front porch to read, listen to nature, watch the traffic and entertain family and guests. Preceding Anna in death were four sisters, Barbara Lee Cheers, Dorothy Cheers Bailey, Thelma Cheers and Eleanor Copper. Anna leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter, Joslyn Deaton (Na-El); one granddaughter, Wadiya Na-El; a great granddaughter, Tienne Na-El; and a great grandson, Joshua Na-El, in Chester, Pennsylvania; siblings, Marie Tingle, James Cheers (Tilley), William Cheers (Anna), John Cheers, Catherine Smith (Guffrie), Faye Jones, Bessie Lively and Andra Cheers; beloved 93 years young cousin, Alice “Bunny” Cheers of Wilmington, DE; faithful friend, Nina Warren of Chestertown, MD; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
