AnDrea Elizabeth Johnson

AnDrea was born on February 6, 1952, to the late Andrew and Irene Williams in Anderson, SC. AnDrea moved to Washington, DC with her parents and brother in 1957. There she attended the DC Public Schools. She graduated from Burdick Vocational High School in June 1970. She was baptized at New Image Community Baptist Church in Southeast Washington, DC, where she was an active member until 1979. She then became an active member of Simpson-Hemline AME Church of Northwest Washington, DC until moving to Annapolis, MD. Before and after graduation, she worked for various Federal Government Agencies, private companies, and at the University of Pittsburg in Pittsburgh, PA. In the early 1980’s, she worked with Rita Jackson (childhood friend) to start and organize The Northeast Performing Arts Group in Washington, DC. This was one of the proudest times in her life. With Rita’s encouragement, she became active with the Neighborhood Planning Council and other youth based organizations. AnDrea moved to Annapolis, MD where she met her loving husband, Jesse Johnson, Jr. (playing BINGO at Casino Bingo). It was love at first sight! They enjoyed many things in common. They were married on October 27, 1995. They moved to Dover, DE, where they found their home in a little town called Cheswold. She is survived by her faithful and loving husband of 21 years (together 31 years), Jesse Leroy Johnson, Jr. of Dover, DE; two daughters, Katrina Williams Winrass, of Annapolis, MD and Erin Yager of Smyrna, DE; three step-daughters, Reena Brent of Edgewater, MD, Kiona Johnson of Edgewater, MD, and Denisha Johnson of Lothian, MD; a devoted and loving brother, Andrew (Pete) Williams, Jr. of Hyattsville, MD; her favorite mother-in-law, Marie Johnson of Annapolis, MD; sons-in-law, Alvan Winrass of Annapolis, MD and James Richardson of Baltimore, MD; sisters-in-law, Sarah Thompson, Sharon Smith, and Sylvia Johnson of Annapolis, MD; brothers-in law, William (Butch) Collins, Elliott Thompson of Annapolis, MD and James (Mike) Johnson of Orlando. FL; her grandchildren whom she loved and cherished, Charles Williams, III, DaMonyae Smith, Amyah Greene, Hezekiah Greene, Kelsey Greene, Keenen Greene, Maleek Payne, James Richardson, Jahari Bush, and Taylor Williams; one great-grandson, Tah’Niyus Peace; many nieces, nephews, and many, many surrogate children and grandchildren whom she loved as her own. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whom she adored.
