Amelia A. Thomas

Amelia Anna Johnson Thomas, of Ridgley, Maryland departed this life peacefully at Bay Health Kent General Hospital in Dover, Delaware with her family surrounding her, on January 19, 2014. Formerly of Centreville, Maryland, she was born February 12, 1926 in Ingleside, Maryland to the late Annie Brown Johnson and the late John H. Johnson. She was the youngest of six siblings. She received her education in Queen Anne’s County School System. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Lloyd Joseph Thomas, Sr. and from this union; there were born ten children (five boys and five girls). “Anna or Ann” as she was affectionately called, was a devoted homemaker and a stay at home mom, long before it became fashionable today. Anna really loved the Lord and accepted the Lord as her personal Lord and Savior. She did not mind praising the Lord and she gave him all her praises and hallelujahs. She was a faithful member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church (formerly Mt. Zion United Methodist Church) in Marydel, MD. She loved her church and she was a faithful member until her health failed and then she still tried to get there when she could. She loved receiving the church bulletins from Sister Hope Brown every Sunday. She was a Faithful Communion Steward, and was an active member of the United Methodist Women’s Committee. She loved devoting and dedicating her time and efforts to her church’s activities. Even through her challenging time she still faithfully continued to pray and read her bible. Anna’s favorite hymns she loved to sing were, “Never Could Have Made It”, “Your Grace and Mercy” and “Swing Low Sweet Chariot” that’s just to name a few. She loved to read her favorite scriptures from Psalm 27 and Psalm 91. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Thomas, Sr.; brothers, Jesse, Edward and John; two sisters, Lucinda and Ella and two sons, Robert Thomas of Philadelphia and Reginald Thomas of Centreville, Maryland. She leaves to cherish her children: Margaret of Ridgley, MD, Lloyd, Jr., and his wife, (Viola) of Newark, DE, Daniel of Philadelphia, PA, Shirley and her husband, (Thomas) Lumpkin of Starr, MD, Ella of Centreville, MD, Clarretta and her husband, (Arthur Kellum) of Cordova, MD, Alfred and his wife, (Lori) of Henderson, MD and Gloria Thomas of Chestertown, MD; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
