Alma Olivia Gibson (Flamer)

Mother Alma Olivia Flamer Gibson, known as “Hap” of Easton, Maryland, departed this life on Sunday, November 24, 2019, at Talbot Hospice in Easton, Maryland, at the age of 88. Alma was born on Monday, August 3, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Clifford and Osha L. Flamer. Alma was educated in the Coppersville School in Easton, Maryland. As a young adult, Alma joined Deshields United Methodist Church in Easton, Maryland. As an adult, she joined St. Matthews United Methodist Church, also in Easton. On April 21, 1953, she married her love, Arthur L. Gibson, and from that union, five children were born: Robert, Marcia, Laverne, James and Phillip. Alma worked at Easton Memorial Hospital and retired after 25 years of employment. After she retired, she went to work for Talbot County Public Schools. Alma loved spending time with her family and friends. She was loved by all. Alma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four sisters; four brothers; grandparents; aunts and uncle. Alma leaves to mourn and cherish her memories, her loving children, Robert Gibson (Janet) of Easton, MD, Marcia Ritchie (Gregory) of Philadelphia, PA, James Gibson, Laverne Gibson, Phillip Gibson (Doresa), all of Easton, MD; Harold Jenkins, whom Alma raised as her own son, of Boston, MA; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Brown of Philadelphia, PA; one brother, George Flamer of Easton, MD and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Alma was grateful for her years of friendship with Roselee Wilson, Jackie Roberts and Shawn Potter, for as well as, Marcieta Gibson, Vickey Sullivan and the Tolbot Hospice Center Staff. A is for your Adoration and respect for others L is for your Loyalty to family and friends M is for your Mindfulness and awareness to life’s precious moments. A is for how your Authenticity and genuineness was so comforting to ALL. These are several of the reasons why we are going to miss you so much mom! You were and still are our queen and we will cherish you in our hearts. So please take your well deserved rest in God’s arms.
