Alfreda Mae Cephas

Alfreda Mae Bolden Cephas, affectionately known as “Freda” and “Free Free” by her family and friends, departed this life on March 14, 2015 at home, “Batsonville” in Federalsburg, MD at the age of 74. She was born on November 5, 1940 to the late Marian Bolden Batson and Robert Williams. Alfreda lived most of her life in Seaford, Delaware. She attended school in Dorchester County, Maryland. She loved to cook and had various cooking jobs working in Dillards Restaurant in Seaford and Laurel also. She was united in marriage to the late Herbert Cephas and this union was blessed with one son, Antonio. Alfreda will be remembered by family and friends for her lovely sense of humor and her kind, caring, loving ways. She had a very special love for children. She always took time out of her busy schedule to babysit other people’s kids. She also enjoyed listening to gospel music and singing along with them. She would clap her hands to the music. She attended church in Delmar, Maryland with the late Pastor Clark and attended Bethel United Methodist Church in Federalsburg, MD. Her favorite hymn was “Rough Side of the Mountain.” She leaves to cherish fond memories one daughter, Crystalia Bolden Fontes of Seaford, Delaware; one son, Antonio Bolden of Smyrna, Delaware; one son-in-law, Richard Fontes of Seaford, Delaware; one grandson, Demetrius Bolden of Seaford, Delaware; four granddaughters, Jessica Stewart of Florida, Bernadette Wright of New Jersey, Nakishia Cephas and Cheryl Cephas of Concord, Delaware; three sisters, Annie Batson of Seaford, Delaware, Ruth Batson of Seaford, Delaware and Audrey Batson of Federalsburg, Maryland; two brothers, George Batson, Jr. of Hurlock, Maryland and Gregory Williams of Federalsburg, Maryland; two sisters-in-law, Teresa Cephas Batson of Hurlock, Maryland and Dorothy Williams of Federalsburg, Maryland; a special friend, Phillip Dawson of Federalsburg, Maryland; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Marian Bolden Batson and Robert Williams and a very loving step-dad, George Batson, Sr. of Federalsburg, Maryland; one son, Douglas Bolden of Seaford, Delaware; two sisters, Barbara Perkins of Delaware and Nancy Williams of Seaford, Delaware; one niece, Darlene Bolden of Federalsburg; two nephews, Miguel Batson of Federalsburg, Maryland and Brandon Deshields of Federalsburg, Maryland; one great-niece, Khyla Bolden of Federalsburg, Maryland; one brother-in-law, Robert Perkins of Bridgeville, Delaware and a mother-in-law, Annie Cephas of Seaford, Delaware.
