Wendy Roberts

Our mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Wendy Valaria Roberts was born on July 10, 1949 in Salisbury, Maryland to Charles Jackson, Sr. and Rosaline Powell Jackson. She entered eternal rest on November 14, 2018 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Wendy was passionate about education. When she decided to pursue a career in social work, she pursued her education. In 1992, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Salisbury State University in Salisbury, Maryland. She continued on to earn a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. She held a variety of positions in the social work field over the years. The last position she held was a Program Director for the Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Program at the Wicomico County Detention Center in Salisbury, Maryland. On May 11, 1968, Wendy was baptized into the Salisbury Seventh-Day Adventist Church, now known as the New Life Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Salisbury, Maryland. She was an active member of the church, serving in various capacities until her health began to fail. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed going on cruises, playing cards, playing scrabble, and crabbing. Wendy was also an accomplished seamstress for many years. She was formerly married to George N. Roberts. Over the years, they developed a special friendship while co-parenting their children, Cheryl, Lorrie, Angela and Brian. She was also instrumental in raising her bonus daughter, Lauren. Wendy was a loving, caring person, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. She always had a warm smile and words of advice for her family and friends. During the years as her health declined, she remained upbeat, positive, and faithful to God. When asked how she was doing, she would often tell us, “My good days still outweigh my bad days, so I won’t complain.” In addition to her parents, she leaves to cherish loving memories with: five children – Cheryl (Alvin) Rhodes of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Lorrie Roberts of Lorton, Virginia, Angela Roberts of Salisbury, Maryland, Brian Roberts of Clinton, Maryland and Lauren Roberts of Brentwood, Maryland; her siblings – Marilyn Stanley of Salisbury, Maryland, Charles Jackson, Jr. of Salisbury, Maryland, Keith Jackson of Marion, Maryland and Francine Walls of Dover, Delaware; seven grandchildren – Trenice (Gerald), Michael, Jarrod (Ashlyn), Kristen, Victor, DeAngelo and Damion; seven great-grandchildren and twin great-grandsons due in March 2019; a host of additional relatives and friends and a special devoted friend, Rowena Bright. She was preceded in death by her aunt, Jeanette Hudson and her brother, Sanders “Butch” Jackson.
