Richard Blair

Richard H. Blair of Wyoming, Delaware, (formerly of Paterson, NJ) was born December 24, 1940 in Kershaw County, South Carolina. "Big Rich" peacefully departed this earthly world September 16, 2016 at Kent General Hospital in Dover, Delaware. He faced his illnesses with strength, grace and gentle humor. In his final hours he was surrounded by his family who lovingly sent him on his journey to be with the Lord. Richard was a machinist by trade and enjoyed long careers with Robinson Machinery, Picatinny Arsenal and Thermo Electric Company in NJ where he retired in 1993. Big Rich was known to many for his great sense of humor and his gift of sharing elaborate stories. He had a passion for cooking that all enjoyed. Richard looked forward to his daily dose of CNN and had a fondness for old cars and NASCAR. He especially enjoyed his time with the "love of his life", his wife of 54 years, Ledoris Blair. Richard had a favorite phrase... whether you spent a short time or the entire day with him, "What's your rush, What's your hurry". We'll miss that. He had a special relationship with Christ that was evident to all who knew him... He prayed fervently for children. Richard was born to the late Johnnie James Sr. and Almeta Blair and was blessed with a large and loving family that included ten siblings. He was preceded in death by Viola, Frank, Ida Stokes, James A., and Gloria Trusdale. He leaves to cherish precious memories: his wife, Ledoris (King) Blair, the stars of his eyes, his children; Richard (Yvette), Kent, Kechia Talley (Darren), Sandra King (Eric Sr.), Craig (Kathleen) and his bonus daughters LaWanda Strand and Marlys Martinez. He shared memories with a special cousin and friend, Anthony "Bob" Clark. He will be especially missed by his loving grandchildren; Dominique, Kent, Danielle, Kerrin, Ashlee, Richard, Eric Jr., Ciarra, Diona, Erica, Zion, Jessica, Emmanuel, Zareia, Malachi, Hannah, Skylynn, Neavin and Silas, and great-grandchildren; Mia, Zoe and Nicolas: his siblings; Johnny J. (Amanda), Lillie M. Jefferson (Henry), Susie M. Furman (Ralph) and Betty R. Frazier (William). Rich is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
