Lottie May Ballard

Obituary Lottie May Ballard, a resident of Pocomoke City, Maryland, was born on June 18, 1950, the daughter of the late Earl J. Ballard, Sr. and Dorothy Handy Ballard. On Thursday, December 12, 2024, God in His wisdom, decided it was time to begin a new season for her. Lottie received her education from Somerset County public schools and graduated with a diploma. She was employed by the former Plywood Plant in Pocomoke City, Maryland and a field worker for the East and Sigrist families. After retiring, she was a stay-at-home mom, loving grandmother, great-grandmother and caretaker. At an early age, Lottie devoted her life to the Lord, after seeing how good He was in all her tests. She joined Mount Olive Baptist Church in Dublin, Maryland, then under the Pastorship of the Reverend Elton Fletcher, but also serving under Reverend James Blackwell, Reverend Ralph Jackson and Reverend Sadie Johnson. She was an active member of the church choir until her health began to fail. Even at that time, during testimonial service, she would praise God with her favorite hymn, “It’s Me O Lord, Standing In The Need Of Prayer.” God would move and she would praise even louder, believing that God was meeting her needs. In Lottie’s pastime, she loved to crochet, complete crossword puzzles, watch westerns, gameshows, wrestling and soap operas, and talk on the telephone. Lottie leaves to cherish fond memories with: one son, Terrance Ballard and one daughter, Carrsandra Ballard (Shelton); other children, Theresa Newton, Allen Robertson, Ashley Webster, Michael Ballard, Kelsey Walker and Joseph Turpin; her grandchildren, Tyrom Ballard, Jr., Tyneshia Howzell (Warren), Ashley Harris, Whitney Harris, Eric Newton (Heather), Tiera Jackson (Philip), Tyreshia Ballard, Elijah Ballard (Cameron), Angela Ballard and Christian Ballard; twelve great-grandchildren; special nieces and nephew, Virginia Bailey, Renae Ballard and Charles Porter; special cousin, Jeanette Whittington; longtime companion, George (Blue) Waters and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Lottie was preceded in death by both parents, five brothers, two sisters and one son, Tyrom Ballard, Sr. She be will missed by her family and friends, both spiritual and natural.
