Leslie Mullen

Brother Leslie Mullen, the son of the late Deacon Dennis R. Mullen and the late Clara M. Bowe Mullen, was born in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, on December 4, 1940. He received his early education at Palmyra Elementary School in Elizabeth City, N. C. Later in life, he met and married Marboline Griffin, and to this union, four children, Blenda, Clinton, Mark and Michael, were added. Leslie worked as a long-distance truck driver for several years. Later, he was employed as a truck driver by Tilcon Delaware. He retired after a long career of truck driving. He enjoyed the outdoors, spending time hunting and gardening. Leslie loved to visit with family in North Carolina, especially his “sister” cousin Clarine “Tinksy” Whitehurst. He was a long-time member of the Welcome Full Gospel Church, serving under the leadership of the late Bishop Winfred Gregory, the late Bishop James Hanzer and, presently, Bishop Jamie Hazzard. Leslie leaves to mourn, his wife, Sister Lina Beatrice Mullen, who provided great care for him as his health declined; two daughters, Blenda Waters (Minister Emerson) of Clover, SC and Pastor Vonyett Akins (Prophet Daniel) of Warner Robbins, GA; three sons, Clinton Mullen (Ola) of Kansas City, MO, Mark Mullen (Crystal) of Felton, DE, and Michael Mullen (Sherri) of Georgetown, DE; five sisters, Ollie Jean Spence (Deacon Clyde) of Columbia, MD, Evangelist Clara Steen Riley (Pastor Orlando) of Newark, NJ, Deborah Thomas (Pastor Willie) of Milford, DE, Denise Harper of Lincoln, DE and Dynette Brooks (Elder Charles) of Magnolia, DE; one brother, Alvin Mullen (Deborah) of Pikesville, MD; one sister-in-law, Pastor Apostle Percilla Mullen; one aunt, Emma M. Lee of Hempstead, NY; twelve grandchildren, Eric and Brittany Mullen of Florida, Tiyana Mullen, Felton, DE., Mark Smith, Georgetown, DE., Tasheena Matthews, Dover, DE, Tyler Waters, Florence, SC, Majesty, Tiffiny and Stephen Waters, Clover, S.C, Noah Mullen, Georgetown, DE, Quinton and Lamer Mullen, Kansas City, MO; four great grandchildren, Jayden, Ayanna and Ania Mullen and Amere Matthews; four stepchildren, Sharron, Milford, DE, Chantay, Liberty, MO, James, Felton, DE, and Darryl, Waverly, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Williams and two brothers, Dennis Mullen, Jr. and Cleophas Mullen.
