Karen A. Beck

Karen Adele Beck, age 52, was born in Easton, Maryland on April 21, 1961. She received her wings from the Lord on Monday, July 1, 2013 at Easton Memorial Hospital. Karen lived and spent all her life in Caroline County. She graduated from North Caroline High School in 1979. Karen was a dedicated, devoted, and driven worker. She was employed first at Preston Trucking and then inspired to open her own day care after the birth of her first son1. During this time, she began driving bus forty-five for her parents. Throughout the rest of her life, she also worked for Caroline County Parks & Recreation, and the Family Support Center. Karen’s drive even gave her strength to work her last job at Goose Creek which gave her a sense of purpose and peace of mind. Karen enjoyed being surrounded by her family. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She loved spending time with all of her family and friends usually supporting children, nieces and nephews by watching and cheering them on at various sporting events. She was very much involved in all the children’s educational and extracurricular activities. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, baking, talking on the phone, reading, and listening to soulful music. Karen was a nurturer whether it was taking care of her family or friends; even through her illness her primary focus was taking care of others. She was a member of the Metropolitan Zion United Methodist Church Ministries and also attended New Beginnings Church in Ridgley, Maryland. Karen was welcomed into heaven by the loving arms of her late father, Thomas Henry Brown, her brother Carlos Brooks, her grandmother Sara Brooks and a host of other family and friends. She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted husband, John Beck; a mother, Alice Brown; two sons, Devon and Brent Beck; three grandchildren, Taylor, Skylar, and Carter Beck; two brothers James Brown (Sonja Brown), Donald Brooks; four sisters, Patricia Diane Fisher (George Fisher), Wanda Green (Joseph Green), Marcieta Gibson, all of Denton, Maryland, and Cheryl Johnson (Donnell Johnson) of Silver Spring Maryland; six sisters-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Jones, Frances Colbourne, Doris Scott, Jacki Beck, Wanda Adams, Mary Adams; five brothers-in-law, Joe Adams, Charles Adams, James Adams, Samuel Scott, Joe Green; three God children Carla Williams, Terae Warner, and Malique Adams; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends, Viola Farrow, Dawn Detwiler, Angela Rich, Rhonda Warner, Reverend Roberta Matthews, and Shelly Griffith.
