Johnny Lee Harris

Johnny Lee Harris entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 19, 2012. Johnny Harris was born April 29, 1941, to Noble and Inez Harris in Morgan, Georgia. His father, Noble Harris passed when he was a youngster. After many years of living in Morgan, they relocated to Shellman, Georgia where he attended school and graduated with a basketball scholarship to attend Albany State College. Instead of attending college, he moved to Delaware with the family. There he worked at the Draper King Cole canning factory, Steiner, and in his later year the Townsend poultry factory. He retired from Townsend and spent his later years with various hobbies in the home improvement and landscaping business. His father, Noble Harris, passed when Johnny was a youngster and he was raised by his mother and stepfather, Willie Alexander, Sr. Johnny devoted much of his time, in reference to education, at the Sussex Technical Institute acquiring skills in home improvement and obtaining a CDL license to drive long distance trucks. He enjoyed his family and friends and sought to tinker with all kinds of gadgets. Johnny never thought he was to dispose of anything, thus us giving him the name of Sanford and son. He thought that he would one day need that part or thing to build something or transfer it to another machinery or car. He loved working with his hands and collecting almost anything that he felt he could improve on or salvage for spare parts. He was a member of the Rising Sun Lodge # 54 Milton, DE. He was affiliated with the Mason chapter (Milton) for many, many years until he took sick and could no longer participate. During his illness he accepted the Lord and Savior and acknowledged him in the pardon of his sin. He knew the wages of sin was death and he desired eternal life. He received Christ and gave him all the praise and glory that he is so worthy of. He was preceded in death by his father, Noble and stepfather Willie. He leaves to cherish his wonderful memory his mother Inell Alexander, (Milton) loving daughters Tracy Clark (Lincoln) Patricia Ayers (Damon, Sr.)(Milton); granddaughters Ashlee Savage (Bridgeville); Christian Savage (Germany); grandsons Rudy Thomas Jr. (Milton); Damon Ayers, Jr. (Milton); Isaiah Ayers (Milton); and a great grandson Machi Savage. Also mourning his loss are his brothers and sisters; Willie Alexander, Jr. (Mary) Ellendale; Mary Ricks (Herman) Silver Spring, MD; Nellie Alexander (Milton); Leroy Alexander (Ellendale); a very special friend, Veronica Hopkins; a care giver Judy Torres; and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.
