Granville Pinder

Granville C. Pinder, Jr. was born on July 17, 1947 in Cambridge, Maryland to the late Grace (Chase) and Granville R. Pinder, Sr. Granville was called to his heavenly home on January 30, 2017, at Aurora Senior Living of Manokin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where he was well cared for and loved by so many people. During his early years of life, Granville had many responsibilities while living and working on Dorco Farm. The one he took most pride in was taking care of his baby sister (Patsy) and his nephew (Buddy) because he loved bossing them around. While on the farm you could find him picking crops, chopping wood and tending to the cows, pigs, chickens and rabbits. Granville received his formal education in the public schools in Dorchester County. He was a graduate of Mace’s Lane High School Class of 1965. While in high school, he was a member of the National Honor Society, Math and Science Clubs. He attended Morgan State College until he was drafted into the United States Army. While serving in the Army, he became a Military Policeman. He earned an Honorable Discharge in May 1972. After he returned from the Army, he held various jobs. He enjoyed being an entrepreneur of Pinder’s Tree Cutting Service, and working alongside his Uncle Nelson Creighton and Cliff Creighton. Granville was a life-long Member of Wesley U.M. Church. He was a member of the Methodist Men’s Choir and enjoyed visiting other churches for Men’s Day. Even during his stay at the nursing facility, he looked forward to attending Men’s Day and Homecoming at Wesley every year. Being with family members and friends just overwhelmed his heart. Granville’s life leaves a memory that will remain with us throughout the span of time. He will be missed but thank our Heavenly Father for the privilege of knowing him and loving him for so many years. Granville was preceded in death by his parents and his loving sister, Gloria Pinder Rideout. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his sister, Patricia Pinder of Glen Burnie, MD; one nephew, Sherwood Pinder (Wanda) of Hurlock, MD; two great-nephews, Keavon R. Pinder of San Diego, CA and Vernell Dollberry of Virginia Beach, VA, and a host of cousins, other relatives and great friends. His personality, smile and laughter will be missed by all that knew him.
