Duval Grandison Sr.

Duval George Grandison Junior, affectionately known as "Neal" passed away unexpectedly at the age of 47 on the morning of June 20, 2013. Neal was born on July 7, 1964 in Wait-a-Bit, Trelawny in Jamaica West Indies. Neal first came to the United States where he resided in Florida in the year 1989. There he worked as a seasonal worker until he came to Delaware in the year of 1998. In the state of Delaware, Neal worked at Universal Forest Products in Georgetown Delaware until they closed in 2009. Afterwards, he worked at Allen's Foods in Harbeson, Delaware. He also worked as a package handler at Fed Ex part time. Neal and his familiy were always proud of the fact that he was a very hard and dependable worker. His bosses and colleagues always spoke of his dilligence and dependability on every job he ever had. This work ethic was evident in all that Neal would undertake from work in the kitchen in the church, where his cabbage was always in high demand, to work he shouldered for his family or friends just out of the kindness of his heart. Neal loved the lord and was a faithful member of the Friendship Baptist Men's Choir. He also found great joy in providing his family members with family reunions, barbecues, and social gatherings at his house. Neal was always an excellent cook and family members and friends would always eagerly line up at the grills to savor the fabulous jamaican seasonings he added to the food he prepared in large quantities for the mixed crowd of his Jamaican buddies and his American family and friends. His curried goat, jerk chicken, cabbage dishes and rice dishes always brought enormous smiles of satisfaction to the crowds who applauded his culinary skills. Although his food preparation was exceptionally delightful, Neal was always very modest, shy, (and self- deprecating) when accepting compliments. (All who truly knew Neal knew that ) The love of his life is his wife Kathy. Neal loved, spoiled, and pampered her in every way possible. ( He married Kathy on August 19th in the year of 2000 becoming not only her husband but also the strong, devoted and loving father of their three boys Brian, Tyrone, and Jeremy. He always wanted her to be happy and she reciprocated in the like manner. Through thick and thin they, together, (in spite of everything and everyone) ( in spite of all ups and downs) managed to maintain a strong conjugal bond and honed a very strong marriage that on lookers could respect and admire. Neal is preceded in death by his father, Duval George Grandison I of Jamaica, his mother in law Alberta Mae Gibbs and his father in law Charles Gibbs, affectionately called "Pops" by Neal with whom he shared a very special relationship. "Pops" is known in the family for once having stated about Neal after a long conversation with him " I don't know what he just said ... but he's the best darn Son in law I ever had!!" Neal has more than 50 nieces and nephews who all love and respect their "Uncle Neal"and will miss him dearly. This is a true testament as to how affectionate, kind and attentive he was to them all. He leaves to cherish his memory his his devoted and loving wife Kathleen Gibbs Grandison of Bridgeville DE.,his mother Joyce Dunkley of Trelawny, Jamaica West Indies, his children, Duval George Grandison III. of Jamaica West Indies, Te'neal Annay Grandison of Seaford, DE, Charles Ronald Brian Gibbs of Edison, NJ, Tyrone Waynard Gibbs of Bridgeville DE, Jeremy Edwin Williams of Laurel, DE, his siblings Stephany Dunkley Ontario, Canada, Peggy Grandison Jamaica, WI, Leon Grandison Jamaica WI, Marjorie Grandison Jamaica, WI, and Annette Pusey of England. He will be sorely missed by his "bretheren" Mr. Cecil, Mr. Ashley, and also Alex who shares the same birthday as Neal. The Family also wishes to express its deepest gratitude to Mr. Bacon and Mr. Grant for their exceptional efforts.
