Carvel Dmitri Milligan

Carvel Dmitri Milligan was born in Cambridge, Maryland on Monday, January 13, 1958, to Dallas Junior Johnson & Deloise Milligan Johnson. He passed away on Monday, November 5, 2018, at the age of 60. Carvel was a lifelong resident of Denton, Maryland, and graduated from North Caroline High School. He served in the United States Navy, where he completed the engineering program, and studied in the nuclear power program. He was a faithful life partner with Linda Griffith from 1982 until her death on Sunday, December 20, 2015. Together they raised a loving and caring family. His greatest love was his grandchildren. They were his heart and soul. The children remember him as being a teacher, helping them with their homework. He taught them to ride their bikes, and about life. Carvel was a hard-working man from his first job packing parachutes to working as a plumber, and in construction for most of his career. He was a passionate musician in the high school band and various groups with his close friends. He lived like he had all the time in the world, and loved to talk with anyone who would listen. He always believed if we treat one another the way we want to be treated, the world would be a better place. He visited several churches in the area, but most recently attended King’s Apostle Holiness Church, Denton, Maryland. Carvel was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Florence Johnson & Essie Milligan; grandfathers, Timothy Milligan & Dallas R. Johnson; aunts, Virginia Milligan Demby & Pauline Milligan; uncles, Robert Ernest Leroy Johnson, Lewis Milligan, Franklin Milligan & Carlos Demby; and his life partner, Linda Griffith. Carvel leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Deloise Milligan Johnson of Federalsburg, MD; father, Dallas Junior Johnson (Barbara) of Seaside, CA; sister, Claire Barnes (Rik) of San Diego; CA; half-sisters, Dalisha Trujillo of Seaside, CA and Tanisha Johnson of Salinas, CA; step-daughters, Lisa Griffith of Goldsboro, MD & Belinda Mattox (Wolf) of Denton, MD; niece, Natalie Barnes of San Diego, CA; cousin/brothers, Leroy Sampson (Michelle) of Andrews AFB, MD and Teme Demby of Denton, MD; cousin/sisters, Portia Thomas (Ronald) of Easton, MD & Patricia Speight of Seaford, DE; four grandchildren, Ciara Williams, Sterling Mattox, Chasitity Mattox & Sean Blackwell; devoted lifelong friend, Chuckie Blackwell (Sharon) of Denton, MD; special friend, Phyllis Murray; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors & friends.
