Aldridge L. Dorsey Jr.

Aldridge Lordeen Dorsey, Jr., affectionately known as Dorsey, age 81, departed this life on Saturday, October 17, 2015. He was a long time parishioner of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Dorsey was the son of the late Irene Graves Dorsey and Aldridge Dorsey, Sr. of Coleman, Maryland. He was educated in the public schools of Kent County, Maryland. He was employed with the Tuck Davis Trucking Company and was later employed with Delaware Refinery in Delaware City, Del., for 25 years before retiring in 1996, where he was a member of the Labor Union Local 199. On July 11, 1959, Dorsey was joined in wedlock to Shirley Odetta Blake. They were married for 56 years and from this union they had five children. Dorsey enjoyed life to the fullest. He was always happy, kind hearted, always had a smile and loved helping people when he could. His children and grandchildren meant the world to him. He was always there to support them in their extra-curricular activities. His favorite pastime was watching old western movies of his favorite actor John Wayne. Some of his hobbies were fishing, dancing, especially the two step. He had a love for baseball whether it was the Baltimore Orioles or the Washington Nationals. Dorsey loved traveling with his wife, Shirley and together they visited many places including Canada, Las Vegas, Atlantic City, New Mexico, California, and Georgia. Dorsey was preceded in death by his father, Aldridge Sr., mother Irene and sister Edith Dorsey-Cruz. He leaves to mourn his wife of 56 years, Shirley Dorsey of Broadneck; two sons, Daniel Dorsey Sr. (Brenda) of Millington and Ronald Dorsey, Sr. (Alva) of Chestertown; three daughters, Rochelle Houston (Walter) of Moreland, Ga., Adrienne Dorsey of Chestertown and Wanda Dorsey of Temple Hills; two brothers, Wayne Dorsey of Chestertown and George Dorsey of Philadelphia, Pa.; six sisters, Ethel Merritt of Chester, Pa., Agnes Brooks of Coleman, Sara Johnson of Rock Hall, Helen Henry of Quaker Neck, Lois Windham of Philadelphia, Pa., and Ann Dorsey of Dover, Del.; brother-in-law, Joseph Blake, Sr. (Marilyn) of Downs Chapel, Del.; two sisters-in-law, Ella Mae Blake and Irene Blake, both of Broadneck; 10 grandchildren, Danielle Spears (Jay) of Waldorf, Ronald Dorsey, Jr. of Wilmington, Del., LaToya Green (Martin) of Beverly Hills, Fla., Durell Pinkett of Chestertown, Terron Dorsey of Bear, Del., Daniel Dorsey, Jr. of Chestertown, Maurice Rainier of Washington, D.C., Walter Houston, Jr. of Atlanta, Ga., Sylvester Tatman, Jr. of Dover, Del., and Tiffany Houston of Mexico City, N.M.; eight great-grandchildren; close friends Billy Jones and Charlie Skinner; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
