Hattie Bell Gibbs Durogene, 73, of Ellendale, DE, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, January 15, 2010.
Born October 8, 1936 in Engelhard, NC to the late Melton and Sophia Gibbs, Hattie grew up in Lake Landing, NC until the family moved to Delaware in 1946. She attended Delaware public schools including William C. Jason High School in Georgetown, DE.
Hattie worked at various poultry plants in Delaware, including Perdue Plant of Milford, where she eventually retired after several years. She also retired from NCR in Millsboro, DE and was most recently employed by Eastern Shore Poultry, Georgetown, DE, where she worked until her demise.
Hattie was a faithful member of Tabernacle of Prayer in Salisbury, MD. If not found serving the Lord, Hattie also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending family outings; never missing a family barbeque.
In addition to her parents, Hattie was preceded in death by four siblings: Carol Lee Gibbs of Engelhard, NC, Annie Evans of Lincoln, DE, Golden Gibbs of Harbeson, DE, and William T. Gibbs, of Georgetown, DE.
She leaves to cherish her memories several family members including: daughter and son-in-law: Quontisha and Ryrico Nocks of Millsboro, DE; three grandchildren: Tyquan, Ryrico Jr., and Tariyah, all of Millsboro, DE; one brother and sister-in-law: Johnny and Joann Gibbs of Georgetown, DE; one sister-in-law: Lutisha Gibbs of Georgetown, DE; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and a host of other family and friends.
“One thing that I desire of the Lord, that I will seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.” Psalms 27: 4
