Obituary for Lawrence Posey

Lawrence Posey of Smyrna, Delaware departed this earth on Saturday, July 8, 2017. He was born on November 26, 1945 in Chester, Pennsylvania to the late Norman Thomas Posey and Bessie Lucille Revis-Posey.

Lawrence accepted Christ at a young age when he was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Linwood, Pennsylvania.
Lawrence was educated in the Chichester School District and after graduating, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Upon completion of his naval tour, he re-enlisted, but in the United States Air Force. After being honorably discharged from the military, Lawrence decided to pursue a college education and enrolled in Goldie Beacon College, then transferred to Cheyney University, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Science.

Lawrence lived a vibrant life. He enjoyed traveling, visiting with family and friends, especially the seniors, eating crabs, going to see Johnny Mathis in concert, and watching his favorite sport team, the Washington Redskins. In addition, Lawrence was quite social and enjoyed attending functions with his brothers of the Masonic Temple Lodge in Chester, Pennsylvania.

Lawrence was employed in various jobs over the years. He retired from Sun Oil, then became gainfully employed at Toyota Motor Company until his death.

Lawrence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was definitely the life of party!

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Thomas Posey and Bessie Lucille Revis-Posey; older sister, Mary Norman Posey-Crumpler; and younger brother Roland Revis-Posey.

Lawrence leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Denise Ricks-Posey; son Lawrence “Boo” Tyler of Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania; daughters, Deborah Posey and Donna Lauren Posey of Atlanta, Georgia, and Tiffany Camille Posey-Harkless (James E. Harkless) of Accokeek, MD; grandchildren, Brittany Hill and Lauren Williams, who he adored.
