Obituary for John Henry "Johnny Boy" Hicks

John Henry Hicks, 61, of Dover, Delaware, departed this life on July 4, 2017, at home.

John Henry Hicks, known to many as “Johnny Boy” was born on March 19, 1956 at Milford Memorial Hospital to John Henry Warren and Martha Ann Hicks. He received his education through the Lake Forest School District.

Johnny Boy was an auto mechanic and worked for Carl King/Mr. Tire, for 23 years. He picked this trade up while serving in the military. Johnny Boy was a “Jack of all trades” and as he put it, “I can do anything I set my mind to do”, which he proved, because any car issue, all we had to say was what the car was doing and he knew exactly what was wrong. In his spare time, Johnny Boy enjoyed watching movies, basketball and playing video games. He will be remembered the most for his love of the Pittsburgh Steelers and his family.

Johnny Boy was preceded in death by his partner, Lynette Victoria Hooks; his parents, John Warren and Martha Hicks; sisters, Pricilla Ann Hicks, Elenore Young, and Joyce Hicks,; daughter, Latoya Dornita Hooks; and grandson, DaShawn Friend. He leaves to cherish his memories, three daughters, Shenelle Hicks-Lovett, and Tameka Hicks of Dover, DE and Ciani Taylor of Boston, MA; three sons, John Hooks of Dover, DE, Johnthan Hooks of Milford, DE, Denzel Hooks of Middletown, DE; one step-son, Tony Hooks of Harrington, DE; two stepdaughters, Kaneesha and Kameesha Gardner of Seaford, DE; on son-in-law, David Lovett Jr.; three special friends of his sons, Shakira Williams, Allyssa Waters and Leah Jackson; five sisters, Norma Jean Hicks of FL, Patricia Chisom of Harrington, DE.
